NHL is a bottom line league, they're so scared of losing any fans. So they stand for nothing.

The NHL is amazing at turning easy layups into fouls. My interest in the league has been waning for years so this just pretty much seals the deal for me in terms of not sinking any more money into it.

The usual big name media bootlickers, other than Pierre LeBrun, have also been noticeably silent on this too, from what I can see.

Spineless cowards, again.

They shouldn't be, if the NHL is going to be consistent on not putting players into any potential political spotlight.
Have players actually done that? I've never watched/cared about warmups, so do they use camo, police colors, etc tape on those nights?

If so, then yes, it should be banned as well, for consistency's sake.

Agreed, the NHL is just paralyzed when it comes to this stuff. Baseball can have pink bats on mothers day and pride on the bases. NFL can have no racism in the endzone. The NHL can't even have a sticker.

The way Don Cherry was pro military. There needs to be someone on tv with a national platform promoting pride. But that would be too risky.

Noted pot-stirrer Allan Walsh isn't a fan of the decision

I wonder which one of these sports is predominately white.

I’m not a big fan of Allan Walsh but he’s absolutely right about this.

"Hockey is for everyone" isn't just some marketing slogan that is replaced every new season. It was meant as a commitment. I don't think they (the league) can walk this back. The damage has been done.

I've already decided I am not watching the NHL this season. The NHL made it very clear, hockey isn't for everyone.

Maybe Huby might be the guy who uses the tape in violation of the rules.

He is a big supporter: https://www.outsports.com/platform/a...bt-pride-night

Backlund, Huby, and Andersson have strong track records in terms of supporting Pride events. Hopefully, the Flames can be leaders in standing up against this.

I'm sure he'll say something.

He's now Executive Director of the Women's Professional Players Association, of whom many are openly LBGTQ+ and Allies.

Another group/demographic the NHL wants to maintain a working relationship with.
