There is nobody in the system better than AJ Greer?

Well, that's a dumb question. Of course, there are, but this fills an obvious role that is not going to be filled by a prospect.

If you liked Hathaway you'll probably like Greer.

The guys for the proposed Flames 4th line remind me a lot of the 4th line for Vegas, all big and can move and forecheck. Just have to see if their offensive ability comes around and it could provide a big boost.

It obviously is important to them. You don't need scoring from your 4th line. So many teams have players like this including top teams that win cups. I believe players, coaches and GM's when they say they feel better when there is some toughness in the lineup. There are less nuclear options that can't skate in the league these days, but there is a roll for the Jeannot's and Maroon's. Greer can skate by all accounts.

I like it.
Just hope he doesn't eat too many rolls for Thanksgiving or he won't be so quick on his skates and that's the role we need him to play.

Is he an upgrade on Hunt, who didn't really impress me much in pre-season? If yes, then this is a clear win.

He's definitely bigger than Hunt. 3 inches and about 20 lbs is not insignificant.

You do need some depth though. Maybe they think the young guys aren’t quite ready.

12 points, 114 pm in 61 games. Fights but not that well.

No, it really doesn't. Greer's cap hit is below league minimum. Whoever the Bruins replace him with will increase their cap number.

If Schwindt is playing 4th-line C, he can't play the wing at the same time. If you want a big, heavy player causing trouble on the forecheck, that's not Schwindt's game.

It's not a choice between them.

Complaining about this move is… well, a very Flames fan thing to do.

Nice pick up. The teams needs a little more grit and Greer has that.

I love how not knowing about someone or something isn’t an impediment to having an opinion about someone or something…and vociferously defending that uninformed opinion.

I think this is fine. Now I'm having a hot cocoa and am about to go on with the rest of my day. Life is bliss.
