You know CP is getting straight geriatric when the 20 year old band my dad likes is considered the young peoples music.

Nickelback is alberta trailer trash. No surprise McHeroin loves them.
Nickelback at commonwealth? Sounds like a Canadian redneck superbowl.

It's not young people's music. It's the music of nostalgic middle-aged dweebs with no taste. Mildly entertaining garbage, but still garbage.
(As for Neil Young, he has the vocal quality of a coffin nail screeching across a blackboard, but less range. And his songs could have been written by Johnny One-Note on a kazoo. That's the music of nostalgic old dweebs with no taste.)
(P.S. The worst thing that happened to Crosby, Stills & Nash was when they became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. You disagree? Bite me. )

If you think Neil Young has nothing to offer musically but also view Nickelback as ‘mildly entertaining’ garbage then your musical opinion card has just been revoked lol. Young continues to be under-appreciated by Canadians which is why he left for America and lives in San Jose. Dude is a musical legend who has written many timeless and classic pieces of music. Heart of Gold alone would be a lifetime achievement for many musicians and it’s just one of the many greats Young has produced. All subjective for sure but as a musician of 25 years that was taught by a guy who taught the Beatles I’m pretty sure my view of Neil Young and his musical accomplishments is more in line with reality.

“Hipsters” haven’t even heard of Nickelback. And virtually nobody under 25 has.

Why does he need Canadians validation? He moved like most artists...to be closer to the what inspires him or help continue to develop his creative talent. He said it himself ""...the sounds I liked were coming from California." And just because he was born in Canada does not necessary make him a Canadian artist.

Haha, Nickelback is old people music, Neil Young is geriatric music.
...and I have and seen both perform live. I hate to say it, but Neil Young's ability to perform has fallen off too much with age. The last time I saw him live, it was a shadow of his former performances. He was still good enough to be enjoyable as a historical curiousity, but performing to a stadium full of people born after he was famous would be a disaster.

No Hipsters act like they never heard of Nickleback but secretly listen to their songs in their parents basement suite.

Everybody Knows This is Nowhere / After the Gold Rush / Harvest is a crazy three album run.

They haven’t had a hit in 15 years and their most popular songs simply do not trend on anything that any even relatively young person enjoys or spends time on anymore. People don’t have to pretend not to have heard of them, and you don’t have to make up a fantasy that makes liking Nickelback sound like some noble pursuit. It’s just a corny old rock band, like Motley Crüe, that is generally pretty terrible but people of a certain age go crazy for. Embrace your bad taste.

hipsters live in their parents basement because they can't afford to buy a house because Baby Boomers ruined the housing market.

Do you actually believe that getting the last word in a discussion makes you right or that it holds more water?

Reason: Googles "This is Nowhere" and realized "Everybody Knows" is part of the album title...
