CMLC will be responsible for all supporting infrastructure.
CAA Icon will be the development manager for the Event Centre block, community rink, and plazas.

this is how capitalism works now. we take on all the risk as tax payers, and the flames have to count all their profits. we all have responsibilities.

Condolences, Calgary taxpayers, but I’m glad the province isn’t covering more.

I'd really like a faux saddle roof design for old times sake. Not an actual saddle roof but a facade of sorts over the top.

In 3 years Calgary will leapfrog Edmonton on the hockey/arena front and it will be like 2015 reversed, and it will be a good day.
McDrai era will be over and Calgary will hopefully figure out its next core on the ice as well as boast the newest and nicest arena/district in the province.
Looking forward to drafts, all-star games, concerts from the world's top artists, and taking the piss at Edmonton's decade old leaking behemoth with not enough bathrooms.

It is still unclear on who is responsible for cost over runs for the building itself.

So Salim is stirring up #### again? Dude is an absolute blight on our city. Bring back Franklin

Or he just misunderstood the context of the question.
For reference, the Event Centre website still says that the City and CSEC would split cost overruns on the building 50:50.
Quote:
How will cost overruns be dealt with?
CSEC and The City, together, will share cost overruns 50:50, specific to the CSEC’s scope of work: Event Centre building, community rink and the parkade. Additional funds for The City’s share of potential cost overruns are proposed to be set aside from revenues from future land sales and future anticipated investment income from the Major Capital Projects Reserve.
More details of cost overruns will be considered part of the next phase of work that’s included in the definitive agreements. Once the definitive agreements are completed, more information and details will become available.

Did everyone think the arena was going to be free?
Unless you’re in Quebec City it’s going to cost a bit of money. Like more than zero.

Disclaimer: We don't have agreements in hand yet.
But there's basically two projects: City and CSEC partnering on a building, of which overruns are 50/50, and City and province partnering on surrounding infrastructure, of which overruns would theoretically go to the city.
Again, we don't have agreements so this is based on what we've been told.

I don't know if anyone actually knows this (there might be some posters who remember it), but Calgary was actually nicknamed the Sandstone City for awhile after FLAMES destroyed most of the city's wooden structures in 1886...
