And maybe he continues to improve.

Not all players hit their peak immediately, some develop into it. Josh Morrissey never hit 40 points before last year, but grew into his role as the PP quarterback. Andersson is doing similar.

I think he's one of the best D at keeping the puck in the offensive zone. He's decent at quarterbacking it from the back despite not taking too many shots.

Also it's hard to evaluate the set plays a PP has. If your coach considers a shot from the point on the PP, as a low scoring chance that gives the puck away. I think a lot of it has to do with the ability of getting pucks through, or having guys that are very good at deflecting pucks(like Pavelski)

He has the shot. why doesn't he shoot? when he doesn't, the PKers don't even bother to cover the point.

Our PP was so god awful last year and it prob pissed away at least 12-15 points in the standings. At least Savard should be able to figure this out pretty quickly.

I don't like the way it sounds, either but I'm more interested in how it looks.

I'm guessing that he takes too long to shoot the puck. By the time he receives the pass and is set to shoot the puck all the lanes to the net are blocked.

He's also not confident enough at walking the line and changing the angle, or beating the guy covering the point 1 on 1. It seems as though Rasmus rather get rid of the puck when he feels pressure than try the risky play and beat the forward.

The Flames' PP last year was ‘so god awful’ that a 16th-place team in the standings was 19th on the power play. Their PP% was 19.84 against a league average of 21.31, and they scored 50 PPG against a league average of 54.

I'm having a hard time seeing how four more goals would have given the Flames 12-15 more points.

Yeah, the failure to prepare for 3 on 3 is something I’d point to as a reason they missed the playoffs over the PP

(Still boggles my mind that the brilliant mind who expected 1 goal games didn’t anticipate a material enough amount of OT to warrant practicing it)

Make the rest of the roster cuts tomorrow, congratulate those who made the team, and treat tomorrow like opening night. Get all the bad season opener play out of our system. They don't even need to go 100% tomorrow, and they rarely do anyway in the regular season. Just tell 'em to go 70% tomorrow night and then practice for Game 1 next week.
