A lot of team success comes down to betting on your core. And you only find out if they are the right core by making that bet.
The ramifications of finding out that you don't have the right core are severe, which is why teams often give it several attempts.
On paper betting on a core that centers on Vladdy and Bo is sound.
But that doesn't mean that it will actually translate to team success.

He wasn't trying to sac, he was trying to get a base hit, but the bunt went closer to the mound than he wanted and he was thrown out.

The commentator didn't like Varsho's bunt. I get the idea and it's better than a double play but would have liked to see him swing.

I love the decision because Kirk at second isn't scoring on a base hit anyway. If he gets to third he also might not score on a Sac Fly either so by trying to get a bunt single you move him to third and if we get a hit we get two runs most likely.
