Blah. Guns are overrated. Just play dead.

When it comes to our national parks: less bears, more roads and parking lots!

Don't be a joke. I'm not a comedian. I'm a dude that loves the outdoors and hates the thought of getting killed or maimed by a bear. Hardly a bit. It's completely rational - you've just been indoctrinated to believe bears are somehow sacred, yet I doubt you have a problem killing mice in your home, hunters killing deer, elk, moose, etc. and I have no doubt you are responsible for the slaughter of countless pigs, cows and chickens just so you can have a greasy barbecue in your backyard. I take it a quarter step further and have no issue killing bears to keep humans safer. Hot take if you can't see past your indoctrination, but objectively a totally reasonable position.

Research isn’t going into why the bears are attacking. Bear spray is also reliant upon the gas still being inside the canister and not expired and factors in wind. Again a reason those that work in these remote areas have carry permits or rely on a side arm. Do any of these studies say why the bear was charging? That’s a big factor, having seen a bear(black) that has been sprayed come back into came less than ten minutes later it’s not what I’d use as my last defense.
Again as I have said a big factor is your training and ability with the protection you choose. I carry a rifle or shotgun and have bear spray on my bino harness. If I run into a predatory bear or feel like my life is in danger it’s the firearm I’ll reach for. If It’s a curious bear and it doesn’t bugger off like most do then it’ll get the spray but most situations neither either needed

Well, yeah. But not parking lots and roads just so we have more pavement to look at. The parking lots would be for leisure attractions/towns and the roads would be used to get you there.

Killing a bear if there is a determined and clear threat of them killing humans, no matter the environment, isn't an out-there take. We trap (or kill) and release mice out of our homes to prevent disease and food loss. We kill animals like deer, elks, and moose for sport and to feed ourselves. We slaughter livestock like pigs, cows, and chickens to feed ourselves.
To "take it a quarter step further" and purposely cull bears that pose you no threat so you can play outdoorsman in their home environment is simultaneously ludicrous and the most Sliverish thing you can say.

I don’t know how to post a link but it’s “fat bear week” at Katmai National Park. They have before and after pictures of their bears showing how much weight they gain in preparation for winter.

Stay in Lake Bonavista then. No shortage of outdoor spaces you can use for recreation and a near zero chance of being eaten by a bear!
I'd like to bore you with the importance of apex predators in creating a healthy and balanced ecosystem, which actually facilitates creation of much of the outdoor areas you love to enjoy so much, but you probably would just ignore it.

Ya, you don't actually like the outdoors if you don't like what's in it.
Once the Grizzly population stabilizes enough, which from what I've seen it has been over the last number of years, they will eventually reinstate a hunt.
But there will, and should, always be bears in the outdoors. Especially our Parks - That's kinda what they're there for...
Unfortunate events do happen - my condolences to anyone affected by this one.

I'm more than 10 times more likely to fall off a cliff and die than your silly bear stuff.
So that's why I propose we flatten all outdoor areas, so I can make them fit into my personal preferences and risk tolerance.
I'll also accept railings and warning signs on absolutely every bit of exposure in the mountains, but I'm still worried I might accidentally jump over the railings.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Sliver setting off bear bangs made them unafraid of the sound and he was subsequently mauled.
