Tragic. His young kids now having to go through life without their dad. Losing a parent, it just feels like 2 different lives, you live. 42 years old, just a loss for words. At some point everybody in life experiences heartache and until it happens you kinda take things for granted and think you have all the time in the world with your loved ones, for me personally anyways. Really puts life into perspective, no matter what trials and tribulations you go through, your health is most important. Chris showed amazing courage, despite his health, he kept a positive attitude. RIP Snowy.

Really sad news. The world lost a strong, selfless, courageous man in Chris Snow. Wishing Kelsie, Cohen and Willa the very, very best in their lives. Zero doubt in mind Cohen and Willa will grow into amazing people when they have the role models they have in Chris and Kelsie.

What is Eddie Vedder's connection to Chris Snow and/or the Flames?

Pretty sure Eddie Vedder was one of the celebs who participated in the SnowyStrong challenge.

This, I'd assume?

Eddie Vedder Makes Incredible 'Trick Shot' for ALS Challenge (video at the link)

Quote:
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder feels at home in the water, but his comfort level got a little trickier recently when he decided to take part in an ALS trick shot challenge.

Vedder was challenged by Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein to complete a trick shot as part of the #TrickShot4Snowy challenge. The challenge was started to help out Calgary Flames Assistant GM Chris Snow who is battling ALS. As part of the challenge, people are asked to complete a trick shot of some athleticism and post it with the #TrickShot4Snowy hashtag, helping to bring attention to ALS, then make a donation to directly fund ALS Research.

For his trick shot, Vedder hopped atop his surf board skimming along the lake's surface following a boat. While he was doing this, he also balanced while carrying a baseball bat and waited for someone from the boat to toss him a pitch. In addition to being a surfer, Vedder's love for baseball has been well documented, so it should come as no surprise that he connected on the pitch. The bigger surprise may have been doing so while still maintaining his balance and never falling off the board. You can watch his trick shot below.

Having completed the task, Vedder then challenged his Pearl Jam bandmate Jeff Ament, claiming he knows he has some trick shots he could try, and retired NHL superstar Chris Chelios to take part in the challenge.

I'm currently at the Panthers/Senators preseason game at Centre200 in Sydney with my oldest. He wanted to wear his Flames jersey, so naturally I am too.

I had no idea Chris Snow passed away last night until they did a moment of silence for him as part of the pregame.

My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. ALS is freakin' awful.

Not sure beyond the trick shot thing, but I noticed this tweet with a picture of Eddie and the Snows at a baseball game in Seattle in July.

It's so funny, a family I don't know, who I've never met can have such an emotional effect on me. I'm absolutely devastated for that family and their loss. But seeing all these people coming out of the woodwork to tell their stories, share their grief and surround the family with love and support is absolutely inspiring.

I believe the guy standing on the other side of Vedder is Theo Epstein. Epstein and Vedder are friends and Epstein and Snow worked together when Epstein was the GM of the Red Sox and Snow was a reporter covering the Sox.

When I think of role models, I don't think of celebrities, billionaires, CEOs, moguls, or politicians. I think of people like Chris. The Flames organization, and the world, lost a truly great man. RIP Chris. My thoughts and well wishes to his wife, kids, and his entire circle of family & friends.
