The fans are, collectively, the biggest stakeholders in the club. If zero people paid for Sportsnet or tickets, the club would cease to exist. Some of you are undervaluing the collective massively.

The owners will always be the biggest stakeholders. Get over yourself.

You’re right, luckily I have never a part of anything that dire. My experiences relate to my sister and her husband who both have struggles including high anxiety, alcoholism, and Qanon rabbit hole to name a few. So yes it is hard for many from the outside looking in (especially when you creep Kylington’s Instagram) to relate/ understand. Especially when the struggle is unknown. Personal family matters was and I believe still is the reason for his absence. Many have assumed depression I read about perhaps it being Schizophrenia, and substance abuse which was originally debunked.

All of which why this is important to talk about so there is better understanding. What people post on instagram is often not what they are feeling. It is a mask.
The image of mental illness is not well understood and therefore hard to recognize.
People can seem happy, socializing, living their best life. And then one day they end it.
What we see on social media tells us very little about what is really happening with someone. Although some are using their platforms to talk about their mental struggles in a more real and vulnerable way.

It is really unfair to the organization that they have to, or are expected to, honour their end of the contract while the player does not have to honour his end of the deal.

Just when you see what you consider the worst post ever, along comes the new winner.
Your ignorance of mental illness is appalling.

Obviously all speculation, but in some situations, the bigger contract might make a mental illness worse - more pressure on oneself to meet expectations.

So many assumptions and bad takes.
Yeah I’m sure the Flames would be unhappy if they thought he was “faking it” and just taking their money. Like any player not on the ice, I’m sure they expect him to put in the work to get himself available to play. I suspect that is exactly what he is doing, why would anyone think otherwise?
Yeah I’d love to know when he might be able to play again. It’s pretty obvious that no one really knows the answer to that.

Dude. Just stop.
From what I’ve been told about this, your take is soooooo off base and offensive.

I’m not going to get into anything - just that criticisms of Kylington or the team’s silence are off base.

We are. You got one. He's not available.
That's all we are entitled to. As to why he isn't available is his own personal information. Not yours. It doesn't matter if his profession is one that puts him in the spotlight of people watching him perform. He, and all athletes, deserve privacy.

I went back a few pages and didn’t see anything. Did I miss it, or is there actually any new information? Also wondering if he is still in Calgary and there is a chance he joins camp, or if he is back in Sweden.

I don't get it. What more do people want? He clearly said in an interview, he has mental health struggles, and was getting treatment in Sweden last year. Clearly he's still not well enough to play. What more than you need to know?
Do you need to know what DSM category it is? What medications he's receiving? What treatment protocol he's under? The name of his therapist? The clinical notes?
When a player blows out his knee, do we ask how long the incision is, what type on anesthesia they used, can we see the X-rays?
Anyone that needs to know more than we already do, are just nosey rubberneckers looking to get some sort of cheap thrill by getting all the dirty details. They are hoping for some salacious seedy backstory to talk about and somehow get off on. They are the same people that frequent TMZ and frequent gossip sites. It's juvenile immature behaviour.
It's simple.
He's struggling mentally and is unavailable at the current time. There is no return date at this time.

Amen. I honestly don't care outside of a general curiosity. Same reason I watch shows like Mindhunters. Kind of fascinating to learn what crazy things the mind can do to itself.
What could be happening to a seemingly sane, ripped, millionaire athlete that keeps him from the game he loves. Whatever it is, it must be pretty bad. I truly hope he can beat it.

I don't want to know the fine details. I honestly have no curiosity at this point. Whatever it is, I just hope he pulls through.
Obviously, everyone wants him to get better so that he can have a happy and productive life. We can separate that from the more logistical concerns about how it affects the team's ability to manage assets and compete though. These are two completely different concerns and being concerned about the latter doesn't diminish the concern for the other.

I've always thought we needed, no deserved, way more information about groin injuries.
