He’s still super young. He’s not quite ready. Give him another year to get stronger and more confidence/experience. He’ll be a different player next year.

I'm happy with most of the younger guys.
I think Coronato will makes the team. And 2 of Hunt, Rooney and Schwindt will make team as 13 and 14th forward.
I hope Klapka, Solovyov also make the team.

Funny to see all these old names listed.
He was brought in to expand Chicken-on-the-Way to Winnipeg!

Super young dosent even start to describe him . He's got at least 2 years in the whl and a potential overage year. Youngest guy on the ice in spades.

He is 18. He looked like a 18 year old against a much older jets club they iced. He is a first round pick but not a tip 5 or even a top 10 pick.

Rooney's cap hit makes in difficult for him. Considering how tight things are even a couple hundred K could be the difference.

At this point, I'd take Klapka. Hunt has been fine, but he is what he is at this point being 27 years old. Klapka still has room to grow and some NHL experience could help him progress.

We're all watching the young guys and cheering for them to do well, but yeah- Weegar was by far the best player out there, IMO.

Agreed on Rooney, but boy- he's turning in a pre-season performance reminicent of his showing last year. Excellent skating, responsible yet agressive, and a bit gritty.

I really like Hunt, back to his junior days, and he could really be a nice 4th liner/13th forward. I think his skills and offensive touch are a bit underrated, though he'll never be counted on in that area.

I see no way he is not a pro next year. This is is has year in the dub he will be on the Flames or Wranglers next year.

I think there was a little bit too much hype on Honzek this summer. Steinberg has been teasing the notion of him making the Flames this year as a distinct possibility.

I think the Flames need to sign Zadorov long term.

I'll take the under.

Assuming 14 spots (though I think they'll only keep 13, due to the cap), there are 6 spots available, and IMO, they currently rank about like this:

Most likely: Duehr, Coronato, Ruzicka (Pelletier on LTIR)
Next: Klapka, Jones, Rooney, Hunt

I think the 13, to start the season are: Duehr, Coronato, Ruzicka, Klapka, and one of Jones/Rooney/Hunt

I am all for trading Hanifin for a forward, and giving Zodorov a bigger role.

TSN broadcaster jokingly called Zadorov "Makar" as he drove the net, thought it was funny.

Liked what I saw from Wolf last night. Great bounce back game. Wasn't spectacular (shoot out save aside) but didn't have to be. Sound positioning, looked poised. Had the angles. Very good stuff.

Until the third I thought the Flames protected Wolf quite well, with blocks. The Jets missed a few open nets that he would not have had much of a chance on. But it was kind of a tough challenge having only about 5 shots in the first IIRC and only 21 all game long. I bet he would have liked a bit more rubber.

Wolf is killer on breakaways (and shootouts). He is so quick and agile that he can react to whatever the shooter is doing. IMO, this has been the most impressive thing about his game so far.

I'd like to add Zary to the next group. As well as players other teams might try to sneak through waivers.

Also if Kylington ends up on LTIR then we might have the cap space for someone like Pinto.

I still think another player is added. Whether it be the waiver wire, or a trade, or whatever. The Flames need one more forward, and they have some wiggle room now, if Kylington is in fact out long term (or permanently)

Expect another round of cuts today in advance of the AHL camp?
