Are the Federal Liberals awful at this point? Yes. Is there any reason to believe the CPC won't be far worse? Absolutely. The UPC actions support that fear.

Change for change's sake is needed at this point.

Had an idea!

First they want to strike it from the official records.
Then they throw the speaker under the bus and force him to resign.
Now the PM is going to officially apologize.
lol.

Agreed. Give the NDP a shot to run things federally. The LPC and CPC have both been awful for different reasons since the turn of the century.

Layton was awful. The revisionist history around him is ridiculous at this point.
Anyways, my point was that CPC doesn't exactly represent "change." At best they'd be a return to the Harper days, which were damaging to the country in their own way. At worst, we'd get the UCP on a federal level.

Curious to know what is in the CPC platform that you think would be so damaging to the country, particularly following the LIB #### show that has gone on far too long?

Exactly the same things people were complaining about re: the Harper PMO when Trudeau was first elected.

Have they actually released a platform? Regardless, their association with the Freedom Convoy idiots is enough for me to know they shouldn't be in a position to govern.
Beyond that, they're still addicted to tired economic theories such as trickle down economics, boutique tax cuts (the LPC are also guilty of this), corporate welfare, and still have a bunch of dinosaurs in the party who refuse to acknowledge the realities of climate change. Not to mention their dog-whistle encouragement of the reactionary attitudes towards trans people.

It's quite possible that none of the 3 big parties are great choices right now. Having said that, change is needed I think. I know people say that change for the sake of change isn't helpful, but I really disagree. If the Liberals don't lose, they are never going to fix the problems they have. I don't think the Liberals under Trudeau were terrible in the first few years. After not being the governing party for a long time, they had to be careful to maintain. But like any party that is in power for too long, things fall apart. You can't let politicians get too comfortable.
I think the Conservatives would be the same way if they got into power. Even with some fringe elements, they are going to tread lightly for at least the first term in order to not rock the boat. If the institutions of this country are so fragile that changing from a liberal to conservative government every few years will wreck everything, then that is kind of pathetic. It should be a strength in a democracy to go back and forth a little bit.
But there isn't going to be an election for quite a while anyway, so might as well just watch the show for now.

It's not too late. Would yesterday be better? Sure.
And he didn't throw the speaker under the bus, the speaker is the one inviting the guy. The blame Trudeau and his people in the PMO definitely deserve is the vetting process, or lack thereof. That guy shouldn't have been there in the first place. That's the biggest screw up of this whole ordeal. That's what you should be angry at Trudeau about.

This guy explains clearly, and concisely, why this whole fiasco falls at the feet of Trudeau and his government.

Climate change doesn't exist/ Anti science
Anti LGBTQ
Support for illegal blockades
As seen in any conservative run province, corporations favored over Education, healthcare and anything people actually need. Add to this corruption, like the Greenbelt fiasco in Ontario, Alberta take your pick of ministers just doing whatever they want to using their positions. Shandro, Madu and now Shultz.
No actual ideas or solutions are ever provided, they are just really great at pointing out problems to stir up their base who does little to no research.
The desire to divide Canadians as much as possible, using the divisive Trump style of politics for an Us VS Them mentality
Anything they disagree with is "woke"
Just off the top of my head.

It would be somewhat funny (in the macabre sense) to see PP and DS duel it out over CPP.
No way the CPC could allow the UCP to rob the pension bank... they'd become totally unelectable. But their stronghold would demand it!
