It’s also absurd to hold anyone who does provide inside information to the standard that everything they share is based on inside information, as though they are incapable of having their own opinion about anything.

But yeah, the whole “How dare you question whether I’m a fan!!! I’m a fan… a fan of ####ting on this team every chance I get!” schtick is old and was stupid to begin with. “Oh, I’m a realist! The rest of you are misguided loser loving morons!” Like, grow up boys, you’re not fooling anyone.

Regarding being down on every topic, that's a gross overstatement and dumb oversimplification. I've been consistently against every move the team has made since the Kadri signing. I think the decisions have been consistently poor and I think it stems from ownership down. But I provide justification to my thoughts. I'm a fan of the team because I have been my whole life- I'm not a fan at all of how the club has been run for quite some time now and am starting to express that. Not sure what's hard to understand, unless your idea of being a fan is being a mindless sloberring moron lapping up whatever message the club is pushing out. Seems like the level of fans the oilers value.
I think the bolded is the issue.

I bleed red, but I acknowledge some decisions are not necessarily what I would have done, nor what makes sense to me. I certainly don't think every move is right or wrong, and such a blanket statement tends to sway how someone is interpreted or viewed. Having a more measured approach as opposed to "everything is bad" can go a long way to how someone is viewed.

First of all, Bingo's assertions about you are spot on. But more importantly, garbage like the bolded above is further proof that you're an abusive asshat with no class whatsoever. You seem to think that we should all be taking your posts in high esteem, but there is no reason to take you seriously at all.

Interesting...So you hate the signing of Weegar, the firing of Sutter, the appointment of Conroy as GM, the hiring of Huska, the Toffoli trade, all of the draft picks, and not signing older players to PTOs, therefore leaving room for prospects?
I can understand disliking a few moves, but this is an excessive amount of disapproval leading me to question if you just want something to hate.

I actually had the weegar signing in mind as before Kadri, so no, that one was a good call. I also think the Tkachuk trade was probably the best we could have done at the time, though I may have targeted younger players.

- Sutter never should have been hired. His firing just rights a wrong that is a consistent issue in this club's history.
- Conroy as GM is a total unknown. Do I hate it? no. Do I disagree? Not even entirely. What I disagree with (and have stated this all along) was the timing. They should have hired him immediately and let him get to work on making the trades he needed to do. Frankly they should have turfed Tre much earlier too, but even ignoring that, the whole charade of the GM search was a pointless joke that just led to our club being directionless for two of the most important trading weeks on the calendar, before the most talent loaded draft in a decade. Foolish.
- Huska is a weird choice. I would have gone with Love. But I also wasn't loud or outraged on the boards about this, you can go back and check the receipts. It's just meh.
- Toffoli trade was ok. Depends on Sharangovich. Also didn't say much positive or negative about this from my recollection. I maintain my position that Toffoli would have been more valuable if we had traded him sooner, and we likely missed extracting more value due to the whole Treliving will he stay wont he stay + conroy gm search debacle.
- I did not agree with our draft picks. I have not said anything negative about our draft picks since we drafted them and have commented in support of them multiple times since.

Sorry I have spurs'ed you all out. I think perhaps you are jointly laser focusing on the bad posts. I'm done, no sense continuing with this nonsense, I ask not for your replies.

I absolutely stand by my position in this post:

IF the flames organization are truly not putting any effort into promoting or executing on this outdoor game BOA, then it's a big waste and a bad move. This is the opinion that brought this storm of fury upon me in this thread, and I will die on it I guess. But I'd like to see someone actually counter this opinion.

The thing is, the Heritage Classic etc are NHL not team events, maybe that's a factor. Also it's the 20th anniversary of the first game in Edmonton, which was a team planned thing at the time, so a focus on them (even though they're no good) might make sense from a certain point of view.

Also regarding jerseys, one has to wonder how/if it being the last year of Adidas contract impacts the retail roll out.

Here's my last post in this thread:

I have a totally antithetical position on this comment. It's asinine to ask whether someone who has spent myriad hours posting on a flames forum over the last 5 years (and before coming here was a mod/frequent poster on competitors) is a fan. Why the hell else would they be here?
It's you who isn't fooling anyone with these ridiculous over the top mightier than thou posts. We accept your insecurities and allow you to be the grandstander.
The community here is maybe one reason, but overriding it all is the fanhood. If you post here, you're a flames fan. Even the blasters. Even the Oil stains! Even the Paulies. Even the Spurs. Even Yoho (if non-sentient robots are capable of fandom).

It's the lowest form of base stupidity to question someone's position as a fan of the club. It's the entire purpose for someone to be here. If they didn't care about the flames they would never navigate to the site.

That’s dumb. There are plenty of people who are very much not fans of the team and instead fans of other teams, and at least a couple regular posters who have stated that they have no interest in hockey or the Flames at all and have expressed how they even hate going to games and find them boring in general.

The difference is that most of them don’t throw an absolute fit, calling other people slobbering morons because they received an ounce of pushback on their self-admitted one-note critical outlook. Grow up.

All sources inside 216 can confirm, whether they think they are doing so or not.

As for 216 itself, though it is silly to call a freeway a ‘drive’, it is unquestionably a Good Thing, because it allows one to bypass Edmonton without having to go as far west as Devon. Anthony Henday himself, when he passed through the future site of Edmonton, never did more than camp for the night on his way to someplace better, so it is quite appropriate that his name has been used for the road that allows so many people to avoid Edmonton.

I have it on good authority that the jersey reveal may be tomorrow.

And the names and numbers may be felt!
