At least they're not blaming it on Russian disinformation like Freeland did when she posted a picture of herself with a UPA/OUN scarf.
I don't really get the "embarrassing Zelensky" aspect though. Ukrainians don't seem to regard those people as problematic, as they view it more in terms of nationalism or patriotism. And even today they have far-right militias (Azov Batallion, for one) integrated into their armed forces.

Yeah, that's a pretty huge gaffe and completely on-brand for the Liberals.
EDIT: The condemnation coming from the CPC is pretty rich considering who PP keeps company with.

I'm not sure far right even covers it. They are straight up nazis, the govt was warned in the past that they were supplying training and kit to these groups, yet they continued to do so and met up with these groups well before this latest abomination.
Calling this a gaffe is extremely generous.

I'm grossed out that all parties were standing and applauding like trained seals. I don't know how the process works, but maybe that needs to change if they're not disclosing ahead of time who they're recognizing that's a problem.

Just bad research and a poor understanding of history.
Ukraine was part of Russia in WW2 and didn’t have its own army. The ONLY way a Ukrainian could fight to free their country from Russia back then was to join the Germans and many did. The fact this guy was Waffen SS was just icing on the cake. Unbelievable not a single person caught it.

Was this literal nazi part of Ukraines entourage during their Canadian visit, or is he living in Canada and invited to show up? I've been gleaning articles but can't find out either way.
