Very excited that they're throwing out the big guns right from the puck drop. Time to start building some new chemistry and explore the possibilities of our lineup. Who says we don't have stars?
Any concerns about the Flames being so transparent about their systems and strategies heading into the season? I mean, it’s cool and interesting for the fans and media, but do other teams speak so openly about their tactics?
I'm interested to see how the new defensive zone system and power play are going to look.
Early times, of course, so plenty of errors can be expected.
I'm also interested in how the young guys fare when put in various positions, especially when against top players from the other team.
BTW, are we doing away with separate GDT and GT? I notice this is a GT, which is a bit odd before the game actually starts, given the way things usually work here.

With the amount of game video teams consume over the season, it would be surprising if the systems used by teams are completely unknown to the rest of the league. I agree that there may be a competitive advantage early in the season with a new coach but that could be reduced with the team getting used to new systems.

It would take an opposition coach all of a couple minutes to figure out the basic system being implemented.

The Flames outline the system in very broad terms. The other team would figure out that the Flames are playing zone defense after a couple of shifts at most. Huska isn't really outlining what reads should his center make in what situation.
Faster passes on the PP, and some different plays on faceoffs and zone enteries. What information does it really give the other team?
