No fighters. But Coleman, Dube, Rasmus, Zadorov, Kadri, Mangiapane, even Backlund - all play with an edge. I'd like to see more edge from Ruzicka and Hanifin - they're big dudes who could use their muscle more.

Nope. I don't think you put out an entire release form/statement if you think the guy is only going to miss one day of camp.

Putting Ruzicka with Kadri may also be so he can see and work with GAF mentality up close (second half of last season excepted).

In regards to Kylington, I am expecting him to be non-participant for awhile if not the whole camp. Mental illness is a very difficult thing to have to deal with. I am extremely happy that his mental health was at a point where he felt well enough to make the trip to Calgary. However that is just one step in his long healing journey. Getting back into his life here will take time and isn't an easy adjustment after over a year back home.

Give him time, I will be happy and surprised to see him on the ice during training camp. But as a long time sufferer of mental illness, I am just more supportive of the timeline he chooses to get back on the ice.

FWIW the guys on The Big Show mentioned a few days ago that Conroy/Huska and crew were looking to explore Ruzicka in a top six and see what they had there if it worked.

I think it makes sense; he did well 5 on 5 when given real looks.

I dunno about pencilling in Sharangovich onto the top line. Wasn’t he a healthy scratch for NJ in the playoffs.

Speaks to the lack of firepower up front with this team

Meh, Sam Bennett was a healthy scratch before too.

Devils are deep offensively. We arent.

Zary wouldn't make the team to be the 13th forward - he;d go to the Wranglers to get lots of playing time, and they could call him up if they wanted to play him here.

He will get a very long look there.

Iirc he was scratched because he was surpassed by Timo Maier after the trade and with Bratt already there as a top 6 RW, he was excess as far as playing on a scoring line.

Opportunity is an amazing thing. Talent disparity at this level is so small, a shot in the arm of confidence with an extended look there could do wonders.

When you have the raw tools he has, it’s absolutely worth the look and a decent bet he pops, IMO.

One thing that gives me some confidence with Sharangovich is that he seemed to have a lot of support from fans even after that. After the Flames acquired him, I snooped on a Devils board to see what opinions were on him, and it seemed like most fans were happy for him that he got traded and would get a better opportunity. A lot of them expressed that he deserved better and fell into the pool of depth.

It was good to read that it was a case of good riddance to a player they thought wasn't good.

See Bennett, Sam.

Hell, a guy like Conroy was pigeonholed a bit and stepped up a lot here.

That Zadarov interview… Sign that guy to a reasonable contract and give him an A already.

Seems like a guy you’d run through a wall for.

Just on the Kylington thing...I wonder if we are wrong to make the leap to mental illness being the issue.

The way that statement reads "Following yesterday’s medical and fitness testing, it was determined that Oliver is unable to participate in the opening of training camp today." makes it seem like it is something more physical related that came up in the testing and the team determined he couldn't participate.

Hopefully maybe it's just being a little out of shape after a year off and not that something came up in his physical health wise.

I worry about something like Myocarditis.
