Default Calgary Labour Lawyers

I have been served with a legal notice from my previous employer. Ugh, I need a lawyer to respond because its full of false accusations.

Any recomendations on good lawyers? I am scared to shop around and go with the cheapest, but the first guy told me it was an $800 retainer just to get them engineer a response to this.

Any advice would be recomended.

That is a real specialty area.

Call 228-1722 (Lawyer Referral Program) and ask for a labour/employment lawyer. They will give you the names of three lawyers that have to give you a free 1/2 hour consultation.

fredr123 (a poster here) might have some connections in this area too.

thanks .... what recourse could i have to recoup my money. i find it unbelievable that it will cost hundreds (if not thousands) to defend myself from false accusations. is there no burden on the accuser to have a clue before commencing?

The court could possibly reward you some portion of your legal costs back if the claim against you is found to be baseless. You may also counter-claim for any damages they may have caused you.

defend yourself, launch for a counter-claim, and tell the court you got the idea of the counter-claim from a fish.

a plan so solid you'd be a fool NOT to do it

Thanks for the publicity, troutman.

For those interested, our firm has a few lawyers who deal with labour and employment law.

The Lawyer Referral Service is a good first step if you just want to get a sense of where you stand. And there's a toll-free number too: 1-800-661-1095 (valid in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Lower Mainland British Columbia, Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut)
