Oliver had more than likely been given the green light to decide when, who , how and where his recovery will get put In the backseat .
Any athlete.making a.comeback into the hardest sport after a years absense gets my full support and understanding.
Oliver to me has overcome allot already and the Flames have invested a ton of time, patience and love to get him back from the depths of where he was.
I just want a guy that's confident in himself and ready to be thrust into a hot bed of expectations thrust upon him by a base of fans who may or may not know or even care about what's really going on behind the scenes.
I wouldn't want to be a distraction either with all the new this and that going on.
Just pray for the guy. This is a game. Not life. It's a bonus if he gets to play the game and good.on the Flames for being supportive and patient

Late to the thread. What did Kylington’s agent say? Thanks in advance.
He didn't say anything today. Only the team issued a statement

In today, interviews on Fan0960 they asked the Flames Coach if the captain would be a players vote, his answer was "nope"
In an earlier interview with the coach, Huska also said that the input of the players was also absolutely essential to making the right choice. The thing is, it's a fairly nuanced thing that will factor in many variables, including contracts, experience, popularity and optics.
I don't think it will be Backlund, but I also don't think this is a bad choice, nor should it come as a surprise, if it happens.

I agree with Huska 100% there. The coaches with input from management and players should decide who wears the letter. The captain has to be someone that liaises between everyone, so it has to be someone that works well with both sides and communicates well. It shouldn't just be a popularity contest among the players especially if there are cliques in there.
It sounds like Huska considers captaincy as a very important role and needs to be awarded with a lot of thought and consideration.

how haven't they picked one yet though. you're telling me conroy and huska and the entire group of players mostly the same as last year needs time to figure it out?
The idea of wanting to pin it on Backlund but needing an extension so leaving it hanging while you sort of negotiate in the background with his agent is absolutely insane. just name him captain and if you need to trade him later so be it. It will be obscure, mostly forgotten trivia fact within 3 years
