That's probably pretty close. Given the dark round logo, the early 60s Stampeders uniform seems to be the most-likely inspiration.

The Stampeders were Chicago's WHL affiliate at the time, so the black stripes from the uniform will be dropped. I wonder if gold will be restricted to the wordmark, and they'll just have red striping. Gold doesn't contrast well against a cream colour.

It's good news about the cream colored but the logo is completely unimaginative and looks like something that would be on a Walmart special t shirt jersey or some cheap pennant or coffee mug. Yes it tried to be in the same general theme with using a round logo and wordmark, but the Flames C inside instead of a bucking horse doesn't aestheticly compare at all.

Flames own the Stampeders football team, and with a the top hockey team in the city named the Stampeders at one time (and used for this era of jersey), with a similar logo back when, having the above hockey Stampeders logo, with a Flames C on the shoulder, shouldn't be too hard to get whatever approval from the league for an alternate historic logo for one off jersey.

Keep the "Calgary" wordmark and the horse and rider log. Omit "Stampeders" (or not) and again, put a Flaming C on the other shoulder.

I thought it might be a fun idea to bring in a group of more recent alumni who played for both the Flames and Oilers, like Cammalleri, Glencross, Smid, Smith, etc. Maybe you could even go back a ways and include guys like McAmmond and Gelinas.

Divide them up in smaller "Flames" and "Oilers" teams and have them do a skills competition or something.

I think the alumni should do sticks in the middle and then have to play for and wear the jersey of the sworn enemy if that's what side the stick goes to.

This is game is to showcase Edmonton and McDavid show. Calgary isn’t putting anymore than minimal effort into this.

If this is true (massive If) then it's a dumb, petulant decision and it only makes it more obvious that ownership rots through this organization.

This is a chance to be league focus. Not putting in the effort is among the reasons the flames are seen as a second rate franchise.

Flames social media, Fan960, etc have all been promoting the game quite loudly.

I'm sure they will do some big press / jersey reveal soon enough.

But when it comes to the game itself I think that will mostly be all about the Oilers - generally the home team controls everything around the actual event.

I wouldn't be expecting to go to Edmonton and seeing much Flames stuff, it's going to look and feel like an Oilers home game. That how it was in Regina for the Jets - Flames game too...that one was a "Neutral Site" and even then all of the in-game entertainment and everything around the game was very Jets focused (which was pretty annoying considering it was a neutral site and just felt like a Tuesday night game in Winnipeg)

What kind of skills are you thinking? I’ve got some odds on favourite for these events

- one timers kneeling on one knee
- loading up a chuck wagon and other general outrider tasks
- goalie stink eye glare
- banking the puck off your own goalie’s skate in to the net

I don't get the "showcase McDavid" and Flames wont try. Like it is a regular season game??? Like why wouldn't the Flames try. Like what lol. Huge drama queens lol. They are both playing because they will make more money, is a rivalry and get to sell more merch. That's it. It isn't even going to be televised in the US lol.
