Yup Watson is the biggest idiot in the NFL now taking over from Kyler Murray.

That Watt TD is exactly what I mean by sloppy. Great defensive play but sloppy as hell by Watson.

It's always important to differentiate good from entertaining. This game has been entertaining enough, albeit because of how hilariously inept it has been, but yeah it's not been a well played game by any stretch. Poor play, poor play calling and overall coaching, but hilariousness and a close finish, so D- for game quality and a B for entertainment value.

I feel bad for Nick Chubb dude plays hard and produces consistently. Football is not fair to running backs.

all the best to Nick Chubb. You know it's bad when they rarely show a replay and it absolutely sucks to see a player go down with a significant injury like that. Hope he can make a full recovery from that.
Watt and Highsmith saving Matt Canada's job again. The summer was so long and offseason/preseason excitement made me forget how ####ty this offense is. So far, Pickett hasn't shown the improvement I expected and hoped for. Run game still sucks and Matt Canada is still, well, Matt Canada. Keeping him will go down as one of the biggest gaffes in Tomlin's tenure ... just inexcuseable to waste another year like that. Also, I'll lose my #### if Gunner Olszewski isn't cut after this game. That toe tap to keep the Browns' kickoff inbounds was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
As for the Browns, I just don't see it with Watson. He was great in Houston, but so far, he looks bang average in Cleveland, and that's generous. Long may it continue, can't stand the guy. All in all, just a really sloppy and ugly game from both teams ... just looks like two teams that were overrated in the offseason and are simply worse than most people thought. I'll happily take the W, but that won't cover the many warts the team has.

A couple of observations from the two games. That Saints offensive line is really bad. The rest of the team looks really good especially when Kamara returns but they really need to get that offensive line pass blocking better.
What happened to Watson? He played at a replacement level last season but the thinking was he would be better with a full training camp under his belt. Nope. He looks like a replacement level QB. Thanks to the genius move of guaranteeing his contract he's the very definition of an uncuttable player. If they even entertain cutting him in 2026 the dead cap hit is $73 million. That entire regime is living on borrowed time and it serves them right.

Cleveland would be far better with Mayfield. looks good on them for trading for and signing the massage marauder to a fully guaranteed deal.

Watson has basically no motivation to play well, it's fully guaranteed after all. I suspect he simply hates living in Cleveland, after all the likely only reason he's even there is that absurd contract. I do think that while they obviously cannot cut him, QB desperation is still such that if the Browns can eat a ton of his cap hits going forward they'll be able to trade him.

I think it its, did he not pick Atlanta only to turn around end up in Cleave land because they gave him a fully guaranteed deal that was suspension proof?

yeah I believe Cleveland was even reportedly "out" at some point and it was down to Atlanta and New Orleans, IIRC. Then the Browns came back with the fully guaranteed contract and all of a sudden it was a done deal.

Yep this is exactly what happened. Seemed he was bound to be a Saint after picking them over Carolina, then his childhood team Atlanta came in late to seemingly win out. But after Watson's camp cut Cleveland early, they stormed back at the finish line to win it.
They basically had to wildly overpay to get back into it and win, his agent played all the teams off each other so well. Seems like he wanted to be in the south, but $230M guaranteed will change one's mind. Glad it went the way it did, that was gross to follow for a while...NFC South teams soiling themselves trying to get him.

Yes now I remember Cleveland was the first time cut from his list almost right away and somehow end up with him when Atlanta was a done deal.
Probably miserable he can't find glitzy massage places like New Orleans or Atlanta would offer.
