"Bet" has been around for ages. It's from the old Who song.

I think it's making a comeback after hardly being commonplace for some time. Something the latest gen in particular caught wind of and now are putting it in their basic vocab. I just dislike it.

Apparently, it's something they do on reality shows so they can record both sides of the conversation and people have started copying them thinking it's the cool new way to talk on the phone.

I swear the first time I saw someone doing that was years ago on that show where the guy Cody has a bunch of wives. He was talking to someone on the phone like that, and I was like WTF is that?!? It would never dawn on me to have a conversation where everyone around you could hear both sides. Now it's common and super annoying.

Shoppers Drug Mart.

Every aisle is a traffic jam. People, display cases, people standing around display cases. Clear the road!

Oh God, yes. It drives me crazy when someone uses "versing" when talking about a competition.

I coach high school and club sport.

I hear it, granted it is/was less when the athletes were junior high aged but I still hear it now.

"Hey coach who are we versing for our next game"

Well, other than the ever popular bible quoting competitions.

Lol. English is weird. You do something "by" accident but "on" purpose. Those are opposite, seems like the same preposition should apply.

English is weird, true. But it's categorically "by accident" and "on purpose". You wouldn't say "on design", "on chance", "on far", "on heart", "on mistake", "on nature", "on virtue of", etc.
