Ah. So we are in agreement. Couldn't tell what you meant. They don't want and won't have a lawsuit because they have a separation agreement in place with Babcock. That's why the presser is written like that.

I can't see it, but it was interesting the closure that Friedman put on it yesterday: "We just witnessed the end of someone's career".

I do think it's hilarious that Spittin' Chiclets memed the end of Mike Babcock's career by making dick jokes. Pretty embarrassing way to go out. Fitting if he's a bully weirdo though

More details on what actually went down in CBJ on Spittin Chicklets podcast this morning…. Babs invited a rookie player over lunch in the off-season, which turned into Babs taking the kids phone and scrolling through texts and photos. He then gave it back and said they were done here, no lunch required. WTF?
On top of all that Babs pulled this whole phone stealing thing in Toronto, which caused 2 players to demand a trade away from Babs, which was the final reason why he was fired from Toronto. And there was a designated player in Toronto that's job was to let all the new/young players know that Babs would pull this stunt so they could clean their phones before their intro meeting.
Crazy ####.
I'm sure there's going to be all sorts of storeys come out now of all the other stupid stunts he's pulled.

Listening to it right now, crazy how many of the older stories were kept under wraps
Haven't gotten to the Chelios interview yet but I imagine he's got some interesting things to say about babs

it's crazy to me that the CBJ management group is surviving this. There's been enough red flags about Babcock that everyone knew about, so if you want to go down that road, you better do your homework. Now you have to let him go without him ever coaching a game, and Jarmo can just say "whoopsie, but thanks Mike anyway" and move on? Wild stuff.

Surely if CBJ did their due diligence, they would have heard these stories? And would have known to put a stop to it immediately in his role with the team? And when they heard the rumours on the podcast, would have dug into it more seriously themselves?
Jarmo deserves just as much blame in my opinion. He shouldn't have another job in this league.

Also, instead of Babcock being grateful that he's being given another opportunity in this league that he doesn't deserve, he goes out and does the exact same thing that got him fired in Toronto?
The man is a sociopath. I hate that he's associated with the 2010 and 2014 Olympic teams.

Hey guys, these allegations have not been proven in a court of law. This new generation of players should be grateful to be making millions of dollars for PLAYING A KIDS GAME. Ridiculous how soft we've become. If hockey becomes even softer, I'm going to stop being a fan. Me. Important me.

They likely aren't going to survive. It's a business after all and firing the head coach and management at the beginning of a season isn't conducive to a good season on the ice. I would expect that short of a miractular regular season that they will all be shown the door in the offseason and the team will conduct a search for the new regime on a more optimal timeline.

I have reservations on this thought process by CBJ.
The best time to rid your organization of toxic people was yesterday. The second best time is now.
This will be a cloud over the organization until it is dealt with.

It's a business and the Jackets don't need to do anything to appease fans outside of their fanbase. I'm sure their fanbase that's paying money to watch games would rather not sit through a disaster season where the team is operating with hastily inserted interim coach and management team.

It’s important to remember that there is still no actual evidence for us to pass judgement on, and the podcast guys swear and use dirty words. They even said mean words about a PR release that a player had his name attached to… that’s basically abusing the player. Who is the real bad guy here? A hardworking father from the prairies, just trying to provide for his family? Or a couple of toxic clowns that remind me of guys that made fun of me in high school?
I’m not saying it’s Paul Bissonette, but I’m not not saying it is Paul Bissonette. Something to consider.

I don't think it's about appeasing fans. It's about rectifying a toxic environment where the players don't feel comfortable enough to confide these issues with management.
