Love how the Friedmans and Dregers writing puff pieces defending Babcock and downplaying the whole thing now have to write about his resignation. I guess they know how their bread is buttered and have to flow with that wind.

Hilarious. Just the story we needed to get us to training camp. The spittin chiclets guys will be coasting on this for a while.
If Babcock walked away from hockey after 2014 his legacy would have been shining. Instead has been exposed as an overrated coach with a toxic personality.

Upon first meetings with players, Mike Babcock asked more than one to see pictures on their phones, and this made some of the players very uncomfortable. It's an abuse of power and an invasion of privacy.

Frankly there are questions to be asked, were some of the veterans covering up the situation or did not talk to fellow teammates? We went from "everything is just fine and it was all overblown" to Babcock gone in 5 days.

Sounds like usual NHL and PA trash just taking limited info and brushing stuff aside.
Seems like more players rightfully so stepped up and spoke out about Babcock which led to a deeper dive.
Has the NHL even come out with anything against Peters?
Seems like they just want to sweep things under the rug asap and move on.
Good on the podcasters sticking up for the players or I don't think we are hereby today.

Someone please do a "One Hour Photo" meme with Babcock's face on Robin Williams' body!

It could also very much be that Babcock treated players differently. So while his established veterans like Jenner and Gaudreau felt it was a “get to know you and your family” exercise, he could have presented it differently to the younger unestablished players. Also, even if the exercise played out exactly the same with all the players - it’s a pretty different experience to those younger unestablished guys or the veteran bubble guys who are trying to earn jobs.
The #%^*ing short of it is corporations should stay the #%^* out of people’s personal lives.

If none of the actions were viewed as inappropriate or improper then why was he forced to resign?
Jfc this league is pathetic sometimes.
It's a tug of war between the under-rug sweepers of old and those wanting to call a spade a spade.

Babcock took player(s) phone to look for dick pics and that made player(s) uncomfortable. Biz laid it all out clearly for everyone. Where’s the issue?

Mike Babcock invaded players privacy and made them uncomfortable.
It wasn't looking for dick pics like some people want to say it's obvious it was much more which required a investigation that led to him quitting knowing hr would likely be fired for continuing being a controlling DB.

To be fair many players liked the approach that Babcock took. I could certainly see both sides of it though .

If someone I worked with asked to see pictures of my wife or my kids, that would feel invasive to me.
(Fortunately, I do not work for a living, so this is never an issue.)

If even one player is uncomfortable with it and finds it invasive that is the only "side" that matters. It was inappropriate given the power imbalance in a player/coach relationship.

I said it before but everyone feels different about it but anyone asking to open and see my phone is a massive breach of privacy.
If I'm sharing it that's different but asking for my phone to go through it not sure how anyone sees that as ok.

The captain which was a team issued statement and Johnny who is super awkward anyway and probably just shrugs things off.

My roommate used to watch the Apprentice often back when Trump was on it. I'd rant and rave about how he was a fraud and a con man his whole life. No one cared or really listened...

No one, anywhere, ever, has seen that as ok.
