Clearly society is wound so tight past level 11 when someone wanting to see a photo of someone's family, or someone else wanting to see a photo of someone else's family sends them off the deep end.
While I believe the intention was innocuous, being fair it is a different situation when a person like Babcock is involved. If any players felt uncomfortable it is entirely valid and should be investigated; that some players weren't bothered at all doesn't automatically make it OK. I don't think this is a reflection on society apart from the ongoing tug-of-war in the court of public opinion, which I always find interesting.

Well if Columbus and Lethbridge suffer from their recent coaching hires I won't be the least bit sad for them.
This is pretty much what you sign up for when you scoop up a guy ousted from their professional sport for misconduct (only a few years prior) and publicly jump to their defense before letting them work first to see of they've learned anything.
Players could also be increasingly sensitive around working under a guy with a reputation and seeing fouls where there might not be, but also the teams hiring them should expect this. Not every one in your room is going to be comfortable with you giving them a known racist or bully the reins at the rink.
If Babs was smart he would just let the players personal lives be something they can volunteer when they start feeling comfortable enough to do so with him, and keep things strictly business. Sounds like he was overcompensating because of his history and did so awkwardly and it made people uncomfortable.
Running it by his daughter's would've been wise lol.
No matter what happens, they can't start training camp with the guy.
Better for him to go away now and let the team move on asap.
I wonder if the management spoke with any of the players before hiring the guy. With his past, you'd think they'd want to have known how the players felt about the potential hire.
I am not sure that proves anything more than the NHL is finally taking any accusation seriously after botching so much in the past and getting lambasted in the public/media so much recently.
There still seems so little to this story against Babcock other than he did bad things in the past and some loser on the internet posted a text from a bitter ex-player with an axe to grind. Every time we get something that is actual information from a reliable source it seems to back the fact that Babcock did nothing wrong.
Why would the NHLPA fly to Columbus to investigate this because “some loser” post a text from a “bitter ex-player.”
If nobody on the team reported anything amiss and the guys talking about it are just bitter losers that don’t have any inside knowledge then seriously, why would they bother?
Are they going to investigate any time anyone mentions any rumour about any coach whether or not they have any inside knowledge?
lol some posters are probably having a difficult time right now seeing another scumbag coach and bully being punted.
It’s obvious this is serious why else would it go so far.
I just remember when the story by trusted reporters came out about Sutters disgusting behaviour came out and the few just couldn’t believe players are allowed to voice their truth.
He shouldn't have been hired to be a University coach either. That was just dumb and hockey can't seem to just let coaches disappear. Seems like we need to recycle the same old coaches no matter what they did.

Players are going to have to start wearing body cams.
