new NHL captains, Quinn Hughes named Vancouver's captain
Vancouver named Quinn Hughes as their 15th Captain in Canucks History.

I figured we could use a thread to discuss the newly appointed captains around the league, and to speculate on who they'll be.
So who do you think will fill the remaining Captain vacancies?
Here are my guesses:
ANA: Zegras HM: Terry, Killorn, Fowler ARI: Keller HM: Schmaltz, Valimaki BOS: McAvoy HM: Pastrnak, Marchand, Lindholm CGY: Andersson HM: Weegar, Backlund, Huberdeau CHI: Jones HM: Bedard, Murphy, Hall, Perry PHI: Couturier HM: Konecny, Sanhheim, Ristolainen SEA: Beniers HM: Dunn, Oleksiak STL: Thomas HM: Kryou, Schenn, Krug, Faulk, Parayko WPG: Morrissey LowryHM: Connor, Scieifele

|
I imagine the Flames captaincy and leadership team would be announced at the conclusion of the preseason/day before season opener. Just seems to be the way they've always done it.

I think you nailed these with the exception of Chicago. I bet they wait so that they can potentially give it to Bedard next year. This year would be silly.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give it to a veteran with the understanding that it will probably go to Bedard when he signs his post ELC extension in 2 years.

I think the Flames announced their "A"s last year around OCT 11th. which was 1-2 days before the season started against COL. I think it was this late mostly because of Sutter, and because he didn't want to draw too much attention to not having a captain. This year I think we might see the C a bit earlier, maybe half way through training camp?

I have no idea what CHI, or PHI will do with their captain. Winnipeg is somewhat hard to predict as well, I can even see Lowery as a Backlund type captian.

That's a pretty good choice IMO. I thought Pettersson might be another option if they could agree on a long term contract extension before the season.
