Just call it North America and South America. Why does “central” exist when it’s not its own entity is my point.
If Central America is a part of North America what do you call the part of North America that’s not Central America? North North America? Where’s South North America?

Better than nothing I suppose. The four western provinces have an agreement whereby you do not need a new inspection when moving to a different province if either of these two conditions exists:
1. The vehicle has been inspected in the previous 90 days
2. The vehicle is less then 4 years old.

I was always taught (led to believe) that N America was considered Canada- US - Mexico and the divide between north and south being the Panama Canal.
Central America is well Central America. Now I’m just confused and this was my area of study in University… perhaps I’m aging.

Been on a beer & Clamato kick lately, just picked some up for the Stamps game today. Since the Clam masks the flavour anyway, I went off-brand this time since it doesn't matter as much and combating inflationary pressures. Bought the beer first, now have been to 3 different stores, everybody is out of Clam (is there a worldwide Clamato crisis the media is hiding from us?)
Now I'm in a situation...I'm not raw-dogging a case of Brewhouse, I'll tell ya that! *Seinfeld steak at 4:30 voice*

Which is a scam in itself. Why care about out of province vehicles when I can register my 15 year old POS truck that’s unsafe to everyone around without question ?

A Spaghett is a really nice drink. You add Aperol and lemon juice to beer.

There is no point to the term “Central America” when talking about continents.

Thanks for the head's up on replacement beer mixers guys, never considered OJ. And I'm definitely going to try a Spagett, the name is even badass. My Clamato quest yesterday was ultimately successful, but good to be able to switch it up

The bold is true, but that also means that the other 20 countries in North America are part of, well, North America.

Absolutely loathe this. I had to get one car I owned inspected thrice. Bought it in Alberta, it was an 04 pontiac vibe. In 2010 moved to Ontario for a year and registered it there. Inspection. Moved back to Alberta, Inspection. Then moved to Michigan and registered it there (no inspection, this was actually stupidly easy.) Then moved back to Alberta 1 year later, and you guessed it, INSPECTION.
It blew my mind a bit.

It’s a grift so mechanics can find stupid little things to call you out on while meanwhile it’s probable your vehicle is better than 50% of the other ones already on the road. And grift mechanics will do.
The other stupidity of it is that some of the neighbouring provinces have stricter regulations and enforcements on safe vehicles than Alberta anyway so Alberta pretending to care about safe vehicles rings hollow. But my main point is in the needless process. You have to go get a form to go to the mechanic and the only way to get this stupid ####ing form is to bring your registration to the registry (why? Who knows? To make those long lineups longer I guess? Just post the form on the internet). Then go get the out of province, then get hosed a $1000 or 2, then go back to the registry… all so dumb. And so much time and hassle.

Yeah, it's probably confusing because they're not actually on the North American landmass, but the entire Caribbean is considered a part of North America, as is all of Central America. The latter is a region, not an actual separate continent.

Little known fact... you can request an exemption for OOP inspections on any car brought in from BC, MB, SASK and AB. And the rules apply equally in all 4 provinces.
I bought a used 2022 F150 Tremor out of Vancouver last month, and applied to get an OOP inspection exemption, and got one in 72 hours. You just apply at any registry office.
The criteria is some formula of one of the following or certain combination of, and nobody knows the exact answer that I've ever talked to.
Quote:
Newer than four years old (current model year plus three years)
Has been inspected in the past 90 days
If the British Columbia, Manitoba or Saskatchewan vehicle meets either of these criteria, you will have to present the following along with the vehicle:
Valid Alberta auto insurance (pink card)
Proof of B.C., Manitoba or Saskatchewan registration in the name of the person requesting the exemption
For vehicles inspected in past 90 days, the B.C., Manitoba or Saskatchewan government inspection certificate
|
It's super grey though. I think these are individually reviewed by a bunch of different people, and I have seen some eyebrow raisers pass, and some other fail. It's very inconsistent. But if you are bringing in a car from Out of Province, just apply for the exemption anyway, it's free and you might get lucky if your on the cusp.
edit: I'll add they required the bill of sale, picture of the odometer, picture of the windshield vin plaque, and picture of the door vin plaque along with the bill of sale.
