A new drinking game. Take a shot whenever a valid point is countered with, “well, you’re allowed to vote for whoever”.

Thanks Preston Manning, Stephen Harper, and Peter MacKay. It's been a long ride, but I think we can safely conclude the bible backed Reform takeover of classic Canadian Conservatism is complete.
How are normal sane Conservative Canadians supposed to get behind this trash? Where is the choice for the rest of us? Stupid muppets.

The party base are mostly normal decent people who believe in balanced budgets, capitalizing on our resources, developing incentives for entrepreneurs, and making people feel proud they are Canadian.

Lol, no. The evidence of conservative budgeting over the past 20+ years across the country would suggest otherwise.
And the passing and pushing of motions that are meant to cause division and further marginalize already vulnerable people would suggest they aren't decent people, either.
I would concede that most Conservative voters are decent people. But the party base and active membership are generally just the worst.

Canadian politics is kind of funny.
It used to be "would you rather pizza or tacos?" Either way you get fed, but what you eat is the choice.
After choosing pizza a couple of times, you'd get tired of it, and then choose tacos. Again, still being fed with food you like, you might prefer pizza, but sometimes a change is as good as a rest.
Sometimes the food would vary, rather than tacos the choice is pizza or burgers; then burgers or sandwiches. Different philosophies on how to get fed, but the ultimate goal is for good food.
Now there's been a shift.
We, Canadians, are tired of pizza. We've had pizza 3 days in a row now. Pizza might be our favourite food, but it's time to mix it up.
The issue is, while we no longer want pizza, the alternative is cat poop.
Cat poop neither tastes good, nor is it nutricious.
Last election was pizza or rotten eggs.
The election before that pizza and mouldy bread.
We're ready to give up pizza, we want to give up pizza, all the opposition has to do is give an alternative, chicken soup would likely suffice, but it's got to be something edible. We're not going to choose to eat cat poop just because we're tired of pizza.
Yet, here we are, with the CPC is walking around with a litter box saying "who's hungry?"

But you don’t have any dependents, so you only have to worry about yourself.
Glad you are doing well. And you have getting old and dying alone to look forward to!!

Are you not going to tell us about how you’re struggling and the Conservative solutions to those particular struggles?

I think since you volunteered PF to go first, maybe you could share your recent hardships directly resulting from the current federal government.

This is such a boomer statement, and akin to baby-crazy grandparents making their children feel like #### for not following traditional family values.

Being in a thruple with no kids has its perks. I just need to make sure I die second to avoid the loneliness at the end, but can still spend the inheritance on the bucket list items after the first eats it.

Its never been Pizza vs. Tacos/cat poop, etc. in the last several elections. It’s been spam jelly vs cat poop. Now it’s dog poop vs cat poop. Canadian politics is now about lesser of evils. If the CPC could ditch the far right BS, they might be some form of food instead of excrement.

Maybe they're on to something. Euthanasia at age 70 is probably in the best interest of the country. Gets rid of the dead weight and frees up housing.
Millenials can live like the kings and queens we were born to be!

I always worried about being put on an ice flow when the Boomers hit retirement age.

As any reasonable society should.
That, or the 'Baffin Island Retirement Home and Polar Bear Preserve.'
It'd free up housing, get some of that inheritance money flowing, kick start the economy, ease the burden on the Health Care system, its wins all around really.

What solutions are the Conservatives bringing to the table that you, as a person who is struggling, feel you need just to get by?
|
Air quotes majority as if its completely fictitious.
https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/bus...44243.amp.html
Conservatives have pledged to tie municipal funding to housing starts increasing supply thus lower price and this reducing the largest household debt.
Or is this only an issue when you are struggling or 4% more Canadians cross the one paycheck line? Or the NDP come up with it?

I personally think we need to have a healthier relationship with death in general, which is just the next stage of life. If MAID becomes an easier, universal option to access when I'm 70+ (so in 30+ years), you better believe I'll consider it. Would love to have that option for myself when I'm ready to go, and on my own terms. This isn't a state of depression or loneliness or anything like that - it's just that it's my life, and I'd like the option to go out humanely on my own terms when I decide I want to. Just me though.

I wonder if older people would be more concerned about climate change if they knew how much smaller these ice flows are becoming.

Yup. All this. We need a much healthier relationship with death, including your own.

the most frustrating thing to me about our political landscape is how weak and ineffective the NDP is under Singh. Any competent leader who would have a populist Bernie like message without all the pandering to culture war issues would have the NDP in a legitimate position to form government.
