Yeah, I don't expect it to be anywhere near as pretty or elegant as the NS to EW connection for the SWRR, but fingers crossed.

North of highway 8? It’s no where close to being done. Cross on 17th and take a look.

I am hoping that they shift all of the EB traffic to the new bridge and go back to three WB lanes tight to the north side of that bridge so they have space to work on widening. Even if they keep the speed reduction in place, the third lane should help reduce congestion.

Ah WTF? I have to drive to Springbank 4-5 times a week during the evening rush from Maghogany. Bad enough that I (and the residents) have to deal with the delays from Highway 8 to 17th by cutting through 69th, Springbank Hill, Aspen. I was really hoping to not have to deal with bridge mess this winter.

It's prob going to be even worse now.

They've been working on that ####in section of bridge my entire life. It was open for, like, a day a few years ago and that's it.

I go on 17th all the time, usually to Pinebrook. It's down to pacing for a lot of it. And they are working hard past there as well.

I dunno, I think most people accessing those areas are taking alternate routes whenever possible. I think this would more likely just screw 69th/17th/85th/OBCR while barely making a dent on Sarcee.

It seems to me it's the N/S through traffic on Sarcee that are the bulk of the surplus volume. Lots of people do SB Sarcee to WB Bow, but it doesn't really hurt SB throughput. EB Bow to NB Sarcee might reduce a bit, but I'm not sure it would even be enough to reduce it's timing?

Curious about the source of these rumours... Anything credible, or is it just people that drive by commenting "sure looks ready to open"? (I'm one of them... WTF are they waiting for )

Are they just widening the existing bridge?

Surely this won't be going on for another three years. I was pretty sure I already saw some metal beams in place beside the existing bridge.

Yes, the work on the WB bridge won't take as long, just widening and some rehab. But I thought the whole project was to be done by end of 2023... so I'm not really sure what the timeline is anymore.

I live in Elbow Valley and the opening of the final stage of the ring road will be a game change. My kids go to Springbank for school and they have been bussed West on highway 8 onto highway 22, which is also under construction for the dam work. They just recently closed down access to Springbank road so the bus has to go onto Highway 1. Anyway, the point of this rant is to say, it sure would be nice if they were ahead of schedule. I drive past the intersection every day and it seems like they are making great progress lately but there is still probably way more to do that I am not considering. Obviously the twinning of Highway 8 still remains but it would be good to see some progress on that. Anyway, wishful thinking but not sure why they will need a full year. Fingers crossed.
