Also where are we on the n-word ending "ger" vs the one ending "ga"? Are they both equally bad? I feel like the "ger" is worse.

Also as a non black person, am I allowed to play rap music where the n-word is featured prominently, or is that offside too? Or is it only offside if the cab driver is darker than I am?

When people ask me what my favorite Kanye song is, can I say the word? Or do I have to say "n-words in Paris?"

On one hand, if Peter’s was just quoting lyrics, he wouldn’t have come out calling it an isolated innocent not reflective of his values nor would he take a year-long program learning about diversity and inclusion. Like, honestly, is that something anyone here thinks happens when someone is just quoting lyrics? That they wouldn’t just say, at any point, “I was just quoting lyrics” especially if they realize the person they said it to had been harbouring this misunderstanding of the situation for a decade? We shouldn’t be afraid to use our brains here.

But on the other hand, Peters was also accused of bullying players and physically abusing them beyond the “one” racist incident, so it’s hard to see what anyone is actually trying to accomplish by diminishing the one incident.

It’s impossible for us to know if any apology from Peters is sincere. Feels like it’s mostly a lesson in good vs bad PR. For that reason I have a hard time letting it slide even if he claims to be apologetic. But we won’t know for sure if he’s grown unless he gets another chance. I’m not above letting a guy try and redeem himself.

He didn’t attempt to apologize to Aliu 10 years ago, when the incident happened, or 4 years ago, when crap hit the fan. He made that attempt when this job offer (and press conference) were in the works. That is checking a box, and still bungling the PR.
