I thought the 5:00 start time seemed odd.
I also see they're asking fans to wear black so they can "blackout" the entire stadium. I'm almost certain it won't look as cool as they think it will but I stand to be corrected:

It'll look like a checker board with all of the empty red seats. 5pm at the end of the last long weekend of summer is a monumentally dumb decision.

Moving to Cape Breton October 28th... so I took the opportunity to fly to Regina for the game this year. Labour day has been a part of my life for long as I can remember, since I was a kid, and this may be the last one I go to, couldn't pass it up. Really looking forward to the game and hoping its a sell out and to get lots of abuse from the local yokels

The 5:00 time is simply to cater to TSN. I've had enough of them as the sole distributor of the league. They have done little to improve their game day production and the broadcasts have been stale for years now. Is it worth a few more eyeballs on the TV when potentially 1000's of fans decide not to actually attend the game? I look forward to seeing all the empty seats and tarped over sections. What a turn off for those watching on TV. One step forward two steps back with this league....

The Rourke dream is over he has signed on the Jags practice roster.
It was fun to think about paying him a million bucks Flutie style.

Also the forecast on Monday currently calls for rain and a gig of 16 degrees. Yeah the stands may be a sad sight on Monday

The alternative is for the league to fold. TSN is the only reason the league remains viable today especially with the declining attendance league wide. RSN has no interest and isn't going to step up to the plate and remotely match what TSN pays the league nor is CBC in a situation where they can offer TSN money to the league to broadcast games.

Yeah, going after TSN, the only reason this league hasn't folded yet was a little bizarre. I get the frustration with this game in particular, but overall TSN does an incredible job and draws really great viewership numbers relative to how third rate the actual league and football is.

The Toronto Argonauts have made quarterback Chad Kelly the highest-paid player in the CFL for the next three seasons.
The 29-year-old inked a three-year contract extension which was negotiated by Saskatoon-based, Canadian agent Chris Lambiris. Kelly’s agreement is worth $615,000 in 2024 and $625,000 in hard money for each of the last two years. There are no performance incentives in his pact.

lol 3rd rate... and it's still infinitely better when compared to other sports like crappy baseball.

Right now, though? The CFL has had better days where I wouldn't make that statement. But every since Covid it hasn't been able to recover both players and fans in the stands.

I am well aware that TSN is the saving grace for the league and there really isn't any other alternatives. I'm just surprised that they don't go a little more "all-in" and really try to push and hype the league. What they really need is better camera angles and technologies in every stadium (cable cam/drones). They should also refresh the studio and panel, update their player graphics and profiles, and enhance their advertisement and promotion of the league (some games should be on CTV every week).

Great story behind the Stampeders black jerseys. One of the first teams in pro football to ever have a third jersey.

Makes me so sad watching the highlights in that video of what the atmosphere and stands used to be like. Man, we really had something special in terms of attending a football game in Calgary for a long time.
Monday is shaping up to be a small smattering for our premier game. I've attended two games this year and it just feels like so lifeless there.

The weather forecast for Monday looks better than it did yesterday. So there’s that lol.
