I cannot believe that they took away the curb lanes from Kensington Rd. That is going to be an "avoid at all costs" nightmare during peak traffic times now. Good lord. Was this just about homeowners wanting reduced traffic speeds?

The changes will be installed using temporary materials that can be adjusted as needed. They are a short-term measure that can be implemented quickly while work to determine the long term plans progresses.

Pretty much, if Kensington had it their way there it'd be closed to traffic entirely

LOL, ya. That decision was clealry made ahead of time. They did these curb extension on 4th st NW about 15 years ago, and removed them after a bit due to complaints, even though the road had plenty of capacity. Though a lot has changed in how the city does things since then.

Gear grinder today is spilling something on my clean clothes within an hour of getting dressed.
I should just start wearing a ####ing apron everywhere. Not like I have any fashion sense to begin with.

Yeah. Wearing a nice white shirt and realizing your coffee lid wasn’t tightened all the way as coffee dribbles down your chin onto your chest. I can see why ties were invented. They’re like classy bibs.

Biggest reason I wear a seatbelt, it collects a lot of spilled coffee that'd otherwise end up on the shirt

This has been my worry in the next 10 years. I'll be first to admit I've lived a pretty blessed life where all my family have been healthy, and I've never had to deal with the emotional stress of seeing a loved one go through health issues. But as my parents get older, I know this will most likely change at some point. Just trying to take advantage of the time with my parents as much as possible.

You can look at it positively. There are lots of people whose fathers have died at a young age, and wish they had the opportunity to spend time with them, as they age. He will probably be adapting as well as he can to the challenges he faces as his health deteriorates. Hopefully his courage will provide an example for you in how to cope, when your time comes.

Lol! I used to work with a guy who was just the sloppiest eater ever, he must have gone through a fortune in ties. I was only contracting there so I wasnt involved but all of his coworkers got him a Bib for his birthday.
He was soooo pissed.
I remember the very next day we're at the pub for lunch and he was actually really kind of sad about it and he asks me:
"Locke, you dont really work here, so tell me, why would they do this to me? Why would they be so mean?"
*As BBQ sauce slides down his tie.*
- "Dude...its funny and they're really doing you a favour. Just own it. And really, it actually genuinely is out of affection. Just laugh it off and roll with it."
Which...honestly, was good advice. This guy was the sloppiest eater you've ever seen, but goddamn if he wasnt a brilliant Accountant. Sloppiest eater ever, but the first guy who you'd go to for help, he never said 'no' and he always had an answer.
He was awesome.
Sometimes you havee to just learn to laugh at yourself.

Is it contagious?
I kid. Honestly. I kid.
My dad and I...we didnt have the greatest of relationships...but we kind of did? Its weird. He'd never admit to being proud of me, when I accomplished something he'd always find a way to say that it wasnt 'good enough.' He was a man who shook your hand, he would never hug you, which is fine, to each their own.
But as we watched my Grandmother (his mother) descend into Alzheimer's and Dementia I recall him grabbing me by the collar and stating:
"Thats never happening to me. And you're in charge of making sure."
Its the 'implication.'
Thankfully it never came to that...I'm not sure I could have done it. I'm actually almost positive I couldnt have.
But there is a strange sense of honour in knowing you were chosen as 'that guy.'

Watching someone you respect a lot go from one of the sharpest and courteous people you know to having tons of days as a petulant teenager in terms of decision making and immature blow ups is really hard. It's personality changing watching it happen.

My kids remind me of a concept I long forgot. Spitballs. I buy straws so I don't have to deal with that ####. If this article is true, then I guess I better stock up more while the biodegradable BPA~esque standards of this stuff increases.

My wife questioned why I spent $20 on plastic straws, but having a freezer bag of these individually wrapped ones in my vehicle to replace the trash out there feels pretty good, especially for the BBT ones. At first she said it was dumb, now she regularly shares them with her mom friends and I think I need to top up again.
EDIT: Oh, and on the next batch, slurpee straws with the spoon tip is another I'm going to stockpile.

Haha we do that, too. Have some in every car and my wife throws some in her purse for movies. At Oppenheimer we even shared them with people in our row and they were so stoked.
