2023-24 Flames Milestones
I have always loved tracking a player's career milestones within a franchise.
No doubt there has a lot of turn over in the last few years, and maybe more still to come, but I thought it would be interesting to see what milestones we might expect for next season.
Backlund. Mikael is by far the highest of the list for accomplishments as a flame. If he finishes the season with Calgary He can expect him to surpass Giordano and become 2nd all time in games played.
1 Jarome Iginla 1219
2 Mark Giordano 949
3 Mikael Backlund 908
4 Robyn Regehr 826
Backlund also stands to move into the top ten in all time points as a flame.
5 Johnny Gaudreau 609
6 Gary Suter 564
7 Kent Nilsson 562
8 Guy Chouinard 529
9 Mark Giordano 509
10 Gary Roberts 505
11 Mikael Backlund 492
Lindholm, Elias is next on the list for highest accomplishments, though his future is also uncertain. Lindholm is currently 23rd points in Calgary with 325. He is 63 points from leaping over Reichel (354), Tkachuk (382) and Mullen (388) to become 20th on the list.
Andersson, the player many are calling to be the next captain is also bound to leave his stamp on the Flames. At 377 games played with the Flaming C jersey he is currently 43rd all time. Though a healthy 82 games will leave him at 459gp making him 25th all time, passing the likes of Loob, Plett, Clement, Tkachuk, Glencross and Paneuf, among others.
Mangiapane, the 5th most tenured flame on the roster has 95 goals with this franchise. This is already 35th all time with the team. If he returns to his career median of 17 goals he will take over 5 players including Conroy (97) and Titov(107). If he matches his career high of 35 goals he will jump to 23rd all time passing the likes of Glencross (114) and Langkow ( 123).
Markstrom Markstrom is shaping up to pass kid and Myre in games played. He will need to play 46 games to pass those two and become 5th in all time games played as a flame. That said, he is far from moving to 4th in all time wins. Lemelin has 144 and markstom has 82.
Wolf is 14 wins from tying Joni Ortio. The last goalie drafted by the Flames to play for the team.
HM to some non franchise related milestones.
Jonathan Huberdeau will pass 700 points
Nazem Kadri will pass 600 points
Coleman is right on the doorstep of 200 points.

The goalie milestones are always bleak to read. Wolf isn't even a Flame yet and he's 14 wins away from tying Ortio lmao.

I may be wrong, but wouldn't Gillies be a more recent drafted goalie to play for the flames than Ortio? Gillies was drafted in 2012 and had a cup of coffee in the Gulutzan era, whereas Ortio was drafted 2010? and debuted under Hartley.

And THEY bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh, this is a Nazi bar now. And its too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

Even better, Wolf only needs to get 5 wins to pass John Gillies!
