And every time this happens it’s another issue for Biden as people will inevitably see this decline and compare it to Biden. Age is a cruel beast, it can be held off but can’t be beat.

Sure, but it goes both ways. Trump is only 3 years younger, why isnt this an issue for him too? He is far from a picture of health.

I think there's multiple reasons. Firstly, I do think 80 is a number that scares a lot of people. Presidents in their 70s? Sure. But in their 80s? It's a threshold that has never before been crossed by an American president ahead of his inauguration, and it's an age when physical and mental decline can often be swift and devastating. Secondly, I think people do have different expectations when it comes to Trump and Biden. The MAGA crowd still loves Trump for being different, and let's face it - you expect him to say nonsensical, crazy stuff all the time. It's just Trump being Trump. Biden, on the other hand, is a typical politician. When he says nonsensical stuff, people will blame his age ... so less room for error there in comparison to Trump. And finally, there's tape of Biden from earlier times and it's undeniable he's coming across much sharper. You look at debates from 2008 or 2012 and it's night and day in comparison to 2023. Trump doesn't have that ... people will notice Biden's mental decline. Trump? Not so much.

The cringiest part for me is the aid needing to come to his side and ask in a super loud voice "did you understand the question". She sounds like a nurse speaking to a deaf octogenarian that has wandered from his room at the old folks home.

God I love how the modern version of the right has turned into a giant internet troll. Only need a couple of posts into people witnessing one of the 10 most powerful people in the world suffering from obvious mental decline talk about how we wants to retain power for another 9 years, and what do they say? "This is going to be bad for Biden".

Just given the context of the past 8 years of political life that comment is so much stupider than it sounds. While still deeply depressing knowing how many people will jump right to that.

Read a few people talking about McConnell freezing and said it probably wasn't a seizure.. if it was then the people around him probably would have reacted differently.

That they didn't seem surprised by it or alarmed by it (i.e. calling an ambulance, rushing to a doctor for a stroke) means it could be a known condition. They said that kind of thing can happen with Parkinson’s. I don't know about the symptom but the point about their reactions makes sense.

What drives someone to the point where they'd subject themselves to that kind of public episode?? What's the benefit? So strange.
