I was like "one day he'll mention living in lethbridge and it will be confirmed" haha.

Edit: I feel vindicated after all the "yikes" comparisons.
I have no idea what you are talking about but you seem very happy about it so glad for that!

Brent Kisio is the only good head coach the Hurricanes have hired in the past two decades.

Mike Dyck was okay but there was lots of talk about him being a mean coach, he was even named in a lawsuit against the WHL (lawsuit lead by Carcillo, so take that for what it's worth) All the rest of the coaches were either mean or were in over their head.

I don't doubt that Peters would be a good coach in the WHL but he has to be changed. This could be a bold move cotton. We'll see how this plays out.

I live in GP and I think it has more to do with the size of the arena. I believe Bonnett's only seats about 2,000, with no real boxes for corporate events.

Prince George has a team and they about as far north.

I can't speak to if Peters has changed or made amends for past actions, but he has been very visable around the arena since he has been in GP. Standing out in the concourse and talking to fans during Storm games, talking to parents and kids during minor hockey games and practices. He did come out on the ice during one of my sons practices last season.

I may be wrong but doesn’t the WHL cap the number of teams (as the AJHL does). No expansion franchises so you have to buy and relocate an existing team. Not sure.

Even murderers get second chances, no problem giving Peters another chance. If nothing negative happens during his time in Lethbridge he will get another shot in the NHL.

Prince George is already the most undesirable location of the WHL due to it's travel. Funnily enough, Grande Prairie would be about as 'short' a drive from PG as Kamloops is, which is it's current closest team. I don't think having a team that is almost as isolated as Prince George is would be a selling feature.

The fact Prince George already has a team with an ownership group that seems to want to keep them is the only reason there is a still a team. I think the rest of the league would be secretly ecstatic if they were relocated.

Lots of things that murderers will never get to do. I’d say Peters is extremely fortunate to be given another chance to coach young men and I certainly hope he has done something with his life to have earned it.

Lethbridge Hurricanes have announced a Wednesday morning press conference to announce their new head coach.

Among those listed as being in attendance are WHL president Ron Robison.

As someone who has dealt with the Lethbridge coaches in an officiating capacity, I will say that Kisio was the best. I look forward to seeing how Peters has updated himself but fully expect colourful language

Seems strange he didn't apologise after being very publicly ousted from an NHL gig, and still hasn't.

Waiting until he has another public-facing hockey job lined up before reaching out to apologize (years later) reeks of a PR-led move.

Guy does not care. Would be surprised if he felt any genuine remorse about it other than “I’m truly sorry being a racist ####### cost me my job.”

So he wouldn't even reach out to Akim directly, he had a coach friend of his in the NHL reach to Akim to try to mend the situation?

It's pretty spineless. An apology after 13 years would be hollow, but something at least.
