If they ship him to the Foot, I can go be there until his folks/sister can get here (they all live in Creston).
Please keep him in your thoughts. He is one of the best/nicest young men and I don't just say that because I'm his aunt but because it's just who he is. I need him to be ok.

Fingers crossed Minnie, I hope you don't have to see him at the foothills and that his injuries are minor.

Baby Shark has been viewed roughly 13B times on YouTube, which means it has, conservatively, generated its publisher $34M.
(For the video alone)

He's alive. He and his girlfriend were on their way home from camping up at Whiteswan Lake/Lussier. His girlfriend went straight into surgery because of internal bleeding - haven't heard about any other possible injuries she may have.
He has a broken jaw, is missing a bunch of teeth, has broken toes and foot, some internal bleeding (this turned out to be a puncture to both the small and large intestine), a bad concussion, and various minor cuts/abrasions - that's what my brother knew at that point, when he texted me, so I suppose that could change. He was supposed to be going into surgery a couple of hours ago, haven't heard anything since. Also haven't heard anything about the people in the other vehicle, am hoping they'll be ok/recover from any injuries they might have.
He remembers nothing of the accident, thankfully, only that they'd been camping and were on their way home.
Fingers crossed, nothing gets worse for anyone involved in the accident. I'm so relieved that this all seems to be stuff he and his girlfriend will recover from.

A good ending to a terrible story where a wrong is finally made right. Bugs the hell out of me that the BBC put the word "stolen" in quotes, to imply that it may not have been.

A 36ft (11m), one-tonne totem pole will be returned to the Nisga'a Nation, one of the indigenous groups in what is now known as British Columbia on the west coast of Canada.
The totem pole has been in Scotland for almost a century since it was sold to the museum by Canadian anthropologist Marius Barbeau.
However, Nisga'a researchers say it was stolen without consent while locals were away from their villages for the annual hunting season.

Damn. Sorry to hear. Wishing you and your loved ones good vibes right now.
IIRC you had a few other bad luck scenarios recently you had to address. When it rains it pours. Hopefully you and your loved ones have nothing but rainbows around the bend.

Not sure where to put this… and I think the grinder is not knowing exactly how to handle this. I expect quite a few in this group have had to deal
with this on one or both sides. Some friends have announced their separation after more than 10yrs together. Neither asking for “custody” or “retention” of specific friends. Will be supportive of both. Anyways… advice for what to do and not to do to handle.

Thanks for update Minnie. Usually for the best people don’t remember the pain and trauma. Their recovery will be tough and certainly they will come out stronger and more resilient. Hopefully healing and recovery is smooth and their friends and family are able to support their journey.
Vehicle crashes are scary… and that gravel road in particular has lots of narrow areas, places where speed is more dangerous, washboard areas, and sees high use in the summer by inexperienced drivers and those towing.

My folks rent their house in the okanagan; rate I would say is ‘fair’ but well below current market value. It scares the #### out of me to think that they have no backup plan, no contingency in place should the LL decide to make a move (legal or otherwise). They spend money like they’re not going to wind up in the same boat as everyone else… forced into paying double what they do for housing in a ####tier place.

Okay, saw a guy in the sidecar of a motorcycle in Banff last weekend.
Wow.
What a fkn beta kuck (actual spelling was censored). And I never use those words because they're so cringey, but how low must your self-esteem/worth be to hop in the sidecar of a GD motorcycle to be paraded down Banff Ave like the Gimp in Pulp Fiction. He didn't have a ball gag, but in my mind the memory is truly starting to morph into it being the actual Gimp even though at the time he just looked like a somewhat normal person. I just can't get over it. I'd fkn walk 100 miles before I'd sit in that thing.
People are so weird.

Side cars are only cool if there’s a dog with goggles in it.

Okay. That’s weird. I saw that in Banff over the weekend. Not a sidecar, but a dog with it’s head out the window with goggles on. Are goggles for dogs a new thing?

Not opposed to a ball gag if that’s what current trends indicate cute is. Maybe with some tassels and a little disco ball flair to it or something, but otherwise the whole leather sub/dom kink thing isn’t really my scene.
|
I'd respect it more if the guy owned it by making it cute. This was just a totally normal dude sitting there like he wasn't the weirdest guy ever. I mean, maybe that's owning it on one hand, but on the other hand I was just like, WTF am I seeing here. Where do you even get a sidecar?
IDK, funny in theory, but in practice it fell flat. Unless the guy was super high or on shrooms or something. Then that's sort of awesome because the feeling of unreality you'd have doing that would be off the charts. If he was stone cold sober, though...yowza.

It’s not even that safe really. I think you’d still get pancaked by a KIA Rio driving a trike. But you’d die super lame.

Dying super lame is a fear I have. It's why I can't let myself buy one of those really powerful kick scooters. They look fun, but dying on a kick scooter? I can't think of a lamer way to go (not including dying in a sidecar).

Are motor bikes cool anymore? I don't know. Everyone who rides one that I know has daddy issues. I can't help but think that they're tryna ride away form their feelings.

I think they're cool if all your clothes have skulls and stuff on them. Then people know you're tough.

The male side-car rider can only be redeemed by a serious of whacky hi-jinks during a street race that involve the car detaching and re-attaching while staying in motion.
