I don't know if he was the last dman on the Flames to be captain but I recall Todd Simpson was captain for a bit.

I can't wait for the interviews during camp talking about being in the best shape of my life. And every writer putting a story together about it. So good.

This thread could probably be stickied and carried over into the regular season....

That must have taken a while to compile. I really appreciate it and will definitely make use of the effort.

It wasn't too bad, I scraped and formatted the links using Python. I just had to make sure they worked, and had to add the titles. All in all took me about an hour.

I just figured that players will start getting back soon, so it would be an easy thread to bump so we can keep up with all the Flames news.

Has Murray Edwards ever done an interview?

Like, the guy who calls all the shots is never spoken too.

The only time I remember him really being in the media related to the NHL was during the last lockout when he was one of the main owners bargaining alongside league execs.

I think Kerr was saying he interviewed him once, on the expansion of Centennial Arenas(Flames Arenas). That's about it.

EDIT: Found where Kerr mentioned his interactions with Edwards, and that interview (01:28:30).

The McGrattan interview was great. It completely confirmed what I thought about that 'big brawl in Van' - Torts was an idiot. He was mad because he assumed Hartley wanted that brawl to happen. The 4th line was the starting line because they were being rewarded for their play from the game before (and the other 3 lines were being punished, essentially). That's all that Hartley said to McGrattan.

McGrattan stated the obvious too - never once in his career has he ever jumped a star and beat him up. The plan was never to beat up the Sedins, but rather wait for the line change and go after the 4th line.

McGrattan also shed light on the infamous hallway incident that was captured on HNIC where Torts was trying to get at it with Hartley. I guess Torts was incredibly lucky that McGrattan didn't end up just punching him out, as the thought more than crossed his mind, and McGrattan had no idea that there was a camera showing the whole incident (and he was looking for a camera!).

I really loved McGrattan and that team overall.

Thanks for posting that one gvitaly!

McGrattan is probably incredibly lucky that he didn't punch out Torts too. I imagine that would have been a lengthy suspension and maybe even police charges.

Bump!
I added a new category of Flames that were only here for a cup of coffee.
I added the Colin Patterson Interview form 2 days ago. The Richardson interview from a couple of weeks back, as well as Byron, Prust and Jagr to the list.

Anything else I'm missing?
