That's ugly ... even for you!
Not even sure you can refer to people in 2023 as mental midgets.

I appreciate the latitude mods give folks on here to speak freely. But sometimes, does your finger hover ever so slightly over the "ban" button when you read stuff like that? I would have pressed it three times for that post alone.

This sounds terrible, but then you remember last season and Marky letting in a ton of first shots and goals in the first minute or two and you're like.. hmm.. maybe Vladdy shoulda been ready to go at any time

Markstrom did suck last season. Hopefully he has sorted it out or we will be banking heavily on Wolf.

I think a discussion about Markstrom, his ability, his chances to bounce back is more than fair.
Walking out "mental midget" and "wetting his pants" is just an ugly insensitive dry by.

Sutter setting the bar low was something but someone coming in and beating that is something else.
Calling him a mental midget and wetting his pants when you just heard a player say he was being pretty much embarrassed by his coach in front of his peers is pretty low when you know he was struggling on and off the ice last season.

Sticking with him doesn't mean he didn't use threatening to pull him to play mind games with the team.

He was also trying to sabotage the season IMO
He thought he was untouchable, my way or the highway

It really seems that way.
After that extension was signed something flipped and he felt he was bullet proof and went on a rampage.
Good on the team for listening to the players and punting him, it must have been pretty bad for them to eat 8 million for him to go home.

Vladar let in his share of early goals. There was the infamous stretch when the first or second shot would be a breakaway or long two on one and Markstrom got burned. So they stuck Vladar in and he let in 3 goals on 5 shots.

Was a team issue not a goalie issue. A lot of blame is at Markstroms feet but really it was not all his fault.
His first shot or second shot faced would be a glorious scoring change usually with a player wide open.
I don't think that has gone unrecognized by the team or staff as that has been a theme this summer talking about tweaking how we defend and letting our goalies see some shots.
Can't really expect a goalie to sit for 10 minutes doing nothing and all of a sudden face a barrage of high quality chances.

He also got beat on a lot of goals he should have had though. It looked like a team that was playing scared because of goaltending.

I often thought it'd be better for Marsktrom to face 10 outside shots than none before they decided to hand a two on one out.

Yeah Markstrom can't hide from his stats. He wasn't nearly good enough for a guy that's the 7th highest paid goaltender in the NHL. Hopefully he bounces back this season as the team will need better goaltending if they are going to make any noise.
