Way, way back in the 'Before Times' I used to work at Family and Southland Leisure Centers and had to sign people's kids up for this crap.
Trust me, its no Picnic from the other side either.

Actually given what a small, uncoordinated kid I was, the fact I made it all the way to green is shocking...I'm surprised my scrawny ass didn't drown. When it came to sports at that age, I think my body was kryptonite.

Myself, I... don't think I ever formally took any swimming lessons after getting my red badge...? At a certain point my parents just didn't bother putting me through more of it, because I clearly knew how to swim decently.

Its funny...sometimes people ask this and the honest truth is...I couldnt tell you.
I vaguely recall getting a 'Lifesaver' badge at one point. As best I can discover...this is not a thing. So what was the last one I got? I couldnt tell you.

That is my thing too. I just don't like getting my face or head in the water while I swim. We go to the Caribbean a fair bit and people, including my kids, like to snorkel but I just can't do it. I've done scuba before and it was decent but definitely not something I feel a need to do very often.

I was a well behaved kid.
My theory is that the brat kids always passed with flying colours so the instructors wouldn’t be stuck with them again.
