Edgar Wright is hollywoods most over rated director. I’m not sure how he keeps getting gigs. But that movie is pretty good. Best thing he’s done since Shaun of the dead. Only good thing he’s done other than Shaun of the dead.
The fact that you don't even mention Hot Fuzz completely invalidates your opinion

Wright takes big swings at motifs like timing action to music in Baby Driver, the video game style of Scott Pilgrim, the comedy/horror splash of Shaun of the Dead and that series. It's why he was originally asked to do Ant-Man, because he doesn't mind getting into the ridiculous. When it works, it's killer, but it doesn't always hit. But at least he's trying something interesting.

I also really like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but I can imagine that doesn't appeal to the high-caliber intellectual cinephiles.
I'd like to consider myself in that group and I absolutely love Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. You don't always have to be super serious to be a great film. I mean, look at what's happening with Barbie right now.

Agreed for sure -- you know the type of cinephile I was talking about, though.

Strays was more funny than I expected, simple story but done effectively. I have to say it does make a big difference when the voice actors are very talented and have experience with comedy, unlike some animated movies than simply hire celebrity actors. In this case they have Will Ferrell, Jamie Fox, Isla Fisher and Randall Park, all excellent.
Some of the dog's dialogue was damn hilarious, they pretty much hit on everything. Oh, the dog talking CGI for their mouth movement is very well done. If you like dogs and want to see something funny, go see it, but prepare for a lot of swearing and #### jokes.

Mario wasn’t awful. It was far too bland to be bad. Thank god the fan service was good because it literally had nothing else. Just hopelessly generic and devoid of anything remotely interesting.
Jesus christ, I'm smiling and bawling my eyes out every other scene. The connections between all the character's stories is a beautiful bit of writing. The themes of Americana, fathers and sons, beliefs, passions, regrets etc. are overwhelming me. It's a brilliant classic film. Simple, and kind of a silly premise too, but goddam magic on a screen.

Such a beautiful and magical film. The final scene still gets me every single time.

When I was younger I thought it was a stunningly beautiful film about mental illness with Ray Kinsella battling delusions and his wife patiently and affectionately going along with it to her detriment, making the final scenes so beautiful as his wife takes it in with him to be there for him. It took the wind out of the sails for me at the time when it wasn't that, it was instead a silly fantasy premise.
It took more views to come to appreciate for what it actually was.
