I thought it was the job of the GM to provide an adequate backup QB? I simply don't understand Dave's philosophy to come into the season without a backup QB on the roster that he could trust to throw the ball especially given how unproven Maier is. To have to keep coming back with a guy that's engineered a single TD drive in three weeks is telling of how this team has been run this season. Just not good enough.

100% agree
They already had the young developmental guy in Maier and Stevens clearly is only a guy they trust to run the ball which is fine with how reliable he is but that means that 3rd spot should have gone to a experienced back-up that they could use when Maier was struggling.
I know it has been said before and it isn't like he is Garcia coming off the bench, but with how cheap he went I don't get how Dane Evans wasn't brought in in the summer.

I know his contract was a problem, but that is easy to get around. IMO, Evans should have been part of the BLM trade.

Stamps were robbed. You should have won that game but for big mistakes.

Yeah, that pick 6 to end the 3rd Q, and the dropped walk-in TD by Hakunavanhu comes to mind. Frustrating

Are we still on the hook for part of BLMs deal?
How can any deal be a problem we have no good players that should be causing us cap problems. I understand when we had BLM and some good players elsewhere but if we have cap problems with this roster that is brutal.

Maier is making 400K a year....which is 4th or 5th highest in the league.
Huf truly missed on this one.

Wow that is shocking. How does he get that much with zero seasons at any professional level of success or production?
I guess Huf has earned a stinker but that is a fireable offense to give out that deal.

It's really not fireable at all. Let's be real here.
He got the deal because the cba takes everyone to free agency in 2 years and he was going to be a free agent. They made him the starter mid season and had to sign him low balling him would drive him to free agency.
I really don't think anyone saw this type of suckage coming. The deal can be reworked.

I realize this is more NFL than CFL, but man is Nathan Rourke looking good and dynamic in 2 NFL preseason games with Jacksonville. Love to see it.
Going to be hard to stick there with recent #1 overall pick QB Trevor Lawrence there, but hopefully his strong play catches the eye of another team down there with a better opportunity.

He had shown nothing to indicate he was a CFL starter, let alone a good one, and was given a top 4 or 5 highest paid contract? That is horrible.
He had shown no reason to think this level of play wasn’t likely. He was below average at best in his short time last year. Awful in the play-off game. Him being not good enough isn’t a surprise at all.

He had 14 touchdowns and 75% completions last season and got us in the playoffs.
He also signed his deal in September not December.
Him being this bad is absolutely a surprise as he might be the worst starting QB in the league right now and no one saw that coming so I'm not sure what you are talking about.
Even with teams figuring him out and having tape on him now you would think he could adapt a bit but it looks like he's a one trick pony.

For him being a Canadian kid, I want him to be successful and make a name for himself and for Canadian.

I can't believe TSN didn't make a big deal out of this, but it was first down for Ottawa and Crum gets gang tackled by two or three guys on an offside from montreal. How in the Wide World of Sports these ####ing refs not blow the whistle dead as soon as they see the quarterbacks going to get hit, absolutely unforgivable, these refs should be fined and reprimanded behind the scenes if not publicly

Him being signed to the contract in September instead of December doesn't make it better. Maier never has shown anything to suggest he should get close to that amount of money.
He is one of the worst starters in the league not because he fell off but because he never was any good. It isn't like he was injured and his arm strength was effected, it was always weak. It wasn't like he lost a step and couldn't make the runs he was always poor at running.

Jake is really the worst QB in the league. He threw a great TD in that game, right to the guy. Problem is he’s colour blind… an a moron.
Dickinson isn’t much better. He is in over his head as both coach and GM.
Team is a complete joke.
