You can disagree with some of these if you like, but saying "there isn't any sign of hope, at least for the next 5 years" has to be a troll job, because it certainly isn't rational.

There are plenty of signs of hope when it comes to individuals. From a team perspective, the Huberdeau, and Kadri contracts make some fans question when this team's window to contend is supposed to be. Is it now? is it in 5 years? in 10?

Sure, but follow the conversation - would you say there are no signs of hope for the next 5 years? Why are people continuing to perpetuate and drag out this conversation? No signs of hope is a ridiculous comment. Period. Full stop. It's trolling.

As for hope, I think it depends on the fan.
* There's little to no hope to win the cup in the next 5 years.
* There's little to no hope to get a top 5 pick in the next couple of drafts.
----
For some that already means there's no hope.
----
* The league wide cap situation will likely result in the Flames getting little to no assets for their expiring UFA's.
* The only way to keep Lindholm seems to be over-paying him on an 8 year contract, and the Flames will likely be stuck in the murky middle without him.
I personally gave up on looking that far ahead. I just take it a season at a time, and try to leave the trades and cap gymnastics to the GM. However I can see why some posters are extremely frustrated. It's a Canadian market so this team is never as good or as bad as fans make it out to be.

lol the biggest issue with posters like Spurs and FlamesFan05 is that they don't really add anything to the discussion besides drive bys about how everything sucks without much behind it. Then they fall back on the I am just stating facts when they get called out on it. 5 years of no hope is a ridiculous thing to say. Things can change quickly if some prospects hit. Look at Dallas

When you're sitting on a prospect like Wolf things can change very abruptly.
Even last year's demoralized group with all its underperformers was just average goaltending stats away from a divisional spot in the post season.

Buffalo still has 8 Dmen after sending Lybushkin to ANA.
But I can see a larger trade with Buffalo
Hanifin and Backlund
For
Jokiharju
Krebs
24 1st
Hanifin then becomes their 2nd best D man behind Dahlin and just slightly ahead of Power .
And then all of a sudden the Flames have too many RHD?? Lol.

I'd love to see the Flames somehow wrangle Quinn from Buffalo too.

Buffalo should be more interested in a goalie at this point. And with Dahlin and Power and Samuelsson, not sure they would want to give up the assets for Hanifin and sign him long-term.

I agree. On the left side, the Sabres have Samuelsson, Power and Jokiharju. Why are they paying a lot to upgrade a position at which they’re very solid. I totally get it from our side. The Sabres have amazing prospects.

Tanev makes more sense for them.
Leader, plays a style no one currently plays on thier backend and can really help in developing thier players in the right way.

None of those show any hope of us competing for a Cup.
New coach/new GM if you don’t rate them or like the direction the GM is taking aren’t reasons for hope. The prospects are pretty average, at best for the NHL. Potential bounce backs for 30+ players aren’t reasons for hope at all.
If that is the best you have then you are just reinforcing my point. To make that list and try to claim it is a troll job not see hope shows your delusional bias.

What a load of crap.
Point out the drive bus where I say everything sucks. You may not agree with my view of the Flames but the constant need to lie about what people post it say is silly.

They really don’t need a goalie. Levi is the starter, and then they have Comrie and Luukkonnen.
