Agreed. A trade or two will happen around camp. Karlsson was traded from Ottawa at the start of camp in 2018. Its not unheard of.

There have been several examples of players being traded from November to January in recent years. I’m going to trust Conroy to trade Hanifin for assets after the season starts, and the same applies to Lindholm if he won’t re-sign. I personally don’t feel optimistic about Lindholm re-signing. He’s had this very fair offer and information about all the changes to the organization for months, and he hasn’t taken the offer. I understand we have posters who say he will re-sign to a pretty high degree of certainty based on information they’ve received from people in the Flames organization. But I feel skeptical that Lindholm and his agent would be so free with their intentions. My guess is that the Flames don’t know what’s going on, and as such, I simply go off of the fact of him not re-signing.

For the record I noticed before Brad even decided to quit. I'm sure others did as well, it wasn't hard to put together. When they didn't make any decisions at the last trade deadline, that put everything off the summer, and nobody is trading for UFAs in the summer, when they can get comparable players through free agency. Therefore that leaves major decisions most likely to the 2023-2024 season - and the best time to trade expiring players is at the deadline.

Mgmt/ownership should've known Brad was quitting on the job when it seems like half the fanbase knew for at least a year. and made plans instead of being caught looking so bewildered and without a plan IMO.

The other day, Don Waddell was asked by a reporter about the inactivity. The Canes are another team that was expected to make more moves in the off season, yet nothing has happened. Waddell said that he expects things to really pick up after Labour Day. Just too many GMs taking a summer holidays at the moment.

Likely Hanifin.

Starting the season with 6 pending UFAs is a not a great idea...
Zadorov - How much value does he really have. TDL Decision.
Tanev - How much value does he really have? TDL Decision.
Hanifin - Basically only player you are actively shopping.
Backlund - Will be allowed to make the choice to walk away if that is what he wants or traded at the TDL if that is what he wants.
Lindholm - Will be re-signed if Flames play well - if not TDL Decision.
Kylington - Will be re-signed if his performance hasn't fallen off a cliff - if not, can he even be traded at the TDL?

Just discounted it for you a little bit. But yes I agree- it would most likely be Hanifin.

Oh right because it's you posting. The only guarantee is the worst outcome.
If you always guarantee the worst outcome, then if you are right you can gloat how smart you are, and if you are wrong then there is no downside as you can just say you are happy you were wrong.

The opposite is more true if you always think things are going to be super duper amazing you just claim "I am a fan and fans are supposed to want the best" when you are wrong all the time.

Guess it comes down to how much one cares about being right in the realm of being a sports fan.
I don't really care about it.

While true, if you are always picking the negative path why are you a fan then? I can understand some negative things, but that as a default?

If you are a true fan of the team and super negative if you are wrong you are happy because that means the team is performing well and if they are no good you can say you were right I guess.

If you are positive on the team and you are wrong then you will not be happy because your favorite team is not meeting the expectations you had for them.

Being negative there is no losses if you are actually a fan of the team

Neither is a good strategy, because both make you a simpleton.

Summers without playoffs are the worst lol

People can never seem to get along here whenever the Flames don't make the playoffs.

Be civil folks, no reason to get personal and throw shade at anyone.

There's sometimes ample reason to throw shade at a poster, actually.

There are propers ways in doing so without attacking the person on a personal level lol

Completely destroying someone's post is fine and dandy if your doing so in a civil manner.

Years where the flames finish on the outside looking in you see an increase in personal attacks whereas usually when the team finishes strong people are pissed at first but get over things pretty quickly.

Same with Trolls, more come around after horrible seasons.... Cycle of CP I guess..

I am actually having some trouble imagining caring about being wrong about anything to do with hockey.

When it comes to sports, I’d rather be wrong, dumb, and happy than right, smart, and miserable.

The game gets played the same either way.

LOL wrong about what? What predictions have I got wrong since being here?

You are so triggered that anyone doesn't overrate the Flames like you do that you need to make this meaningless post?
