Pretty embarrassing actually that they could catch us with a sweep which seemed impossible a few weeks ago and now looks like a good bet.

Its crazy that we are in a QB crisis with Huff and Dave at the helm.

We have been sunk by poor QB play and our defence being awful at important times.

I'd be curious to go back and rewatch those games last year when Bo was struggling and Jake would be put in. Most fans seemed happy at the time, was he playing at a similar level to what we're seeing now or was he actually playing well? Like was he just better than Bo so people thought that was good or was he better than he ended up this season?

I think it was the case that people were tired of Bo and way too harsh on him and then being happy that it was someone, anyone but Bo.

Maier had the same issues last year, his arm has never been good enough, but he was new and "young" so people ignored it just happy that Bo who they decided was done was gone.

The thing with Jake was he had no tape last year. So when he came in for Bo those underneath routes are all open.

BC in the playoffs gave the league a blueprint on what to do with Jake so when Bo came in it was a change of pace with the deep shots.

I think most people though the offseason and being coached up by Dave would lead to a better season but it seems like Jake just is not good at all. You can't win games running the ball only in the CFL and throwing 2 yard hitch screens every single play.

Yeah it's all about the amount of tape teams have on a QB to figure out his tendencies and as well as the route tree of the offense. You can clearly see a pattern last season when Maier's production started to drop in the fall as teams caught on to all the short route patterns. This season we have seen several interceptions on short routes where DB's were prepared for the route and broke on the ball before the WR.

I think also this season the receiving groups are not up to par. when in the odd time Jake threw a perfect pass right in the receivers hands they just drop it.

I agree it's due to a number of factors. What impressed me about Jake last year was his accuracy and ability to convert on second down in order to string together drives. Combined with a solid running attack from Carey, the two complemented each other well.

This year, with defensive schemes keying in on the short to intermediate passing game, he's not able to fit the ball into those tighter windows. O-line hasn't been great, and the running game hasn't been consistent. Receivers haven't been great either -- Malik Henry was our gamebreaker last year and nobody has been able to pick up the slack after he tore his achilles.

Just ridiculous....5 yard throws 95% of the time.

When he does go deep? Receiver is blanketed by coverage and he is just tossin up a prayer.

I will admit I was wrong about Maier. I thought we were going to have a decent QB after last year, guy fell apart.
