Usually I absolutely hate when nicknames are used, unless a player has some ungainly last name. I love how here Coleman is just Coleman.

I thought Sharangovich's nickname was already Shaggy.

To me the glaring hole at rw sticks out as well. Coronnato center or rw? Rucicka will he impress enough at camp to take center three if backs is traded? Which of our abundance of lw can we seitch to rw?

Add some of our young skilled guys and the depth is really good. Will they be inconsistent? Yup. But a hell of a lot better than watching some of our old acquisitions doing it.
Perhaps Dooby could center Coly and Duie? NATO as the 2nd line RW?

Are we pretending Backlund and Dube don't exist? Or are you envisioning a lineup where they are traded?

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Sharangovich
Mangiapane - Kadri - Coronato
Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman
Ruzicka - Dube - Duehr

Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Osterle - Zadorov
Gilbert

That line up looks not bad. Would definitely look better with Hanifin instead of Osterle though.

In all honesty forgot about Dube and i expect Backlund to be traded as well as Tanev. Wont agree on term.

I expect Dube to have a great year only question is what position?

Unless its on defence any player coming in from a trade limits what few positions are actually open.

Jeff Middleton of Flames Nation posted a speculative trade proposal that I like:

Elias Lindholm to Boston for W Jake Debrusk, D Mason Lohrei, C Brett Harrison, and a 2024 4th rounder.

Personally, I think the 4th rounder is unnecessary. I like Debrusk, but the 2 prospects we would get in Lohrei and Harrison would be great. Lohrei is a 6'4" defenseman who put up 32 points in 40 NCAA games this past season. Obviously, he's offensive-minded with keen vision and playmaking ability, and can QB a PP. He's developed a nice two-way game as well, and is good at starting the breakout. Harrison is a 6'3" center with a great shot and is well known for his defensive game. His floor is 3rd-line C, IMO. I've watched him play many times, and while he's not flashy and keeps things simple, he's effective.

I don't like that deal.

In terms of what I want back I wouldn't want less than what Vancouver received for Horvat.

Lindholm may be a little older but he is significantly better than Horvat. Not getting back a first wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but I would still want the appropriate value.

If that is the best deal any team is offering you have to try and re-sign him. At the end of the day the past trades set expectations going forward and if you accept little for Lindholm GMs are always going to play hardball with Conny.

No, at the end of the day you take the best deal possible. If Lindholm won't sign a deal the Flames are offering, he should be dealt. That should happen before the season starts IMO or it's going to be a distraction, this move will decide what direction the team is going and help figure out who wants to stay or go. Don't risk him getting hurt so you can trade him at the deadline...too risky.

Poop or get off the pot already.

The only center Boston can pry from Calgary without having a 3-way team involved to provide appealing assets is Backlund.

Marchand - Backlund - Pasta is easily their top line and wouldn’t skip a beat. Would allow them to see a season’s worth of Zacha potentially holding down the fort as the potential 1C/2C, Coyle improve his game again, or if Geekie the wildcard can be a top 6 center for them.

Yea I’m not sure I like that deal either.
Debrusk likely wouldn’t sign long term here, and his game really isn’t a driving factor for what the flames need.

We weaken our C posistion significantly, Lohrei is an alright prospect but Harrison wouldn’t even crack our top 5 prospects so he’s a throw in.

I’d much rather flip Lindholm for a deadline haul than take that, but I think Lindholm is more likely to re-sign.
