I think that is a smart move Comox. You will buy them again i'm sure at some point. Ownership needs to realize they being mid is not good.

I let my seasons go this year after 8+ years. It's been hard to justify them for a few years now but I liked giving them to clients and referral partners throughout the season. Last year though, I was finding it hard to even give tickets away...
Hopefully the owners find a way to bring value back to season ticket holders again or else things could get uglier than they already are.

Nope. And we've had ours since the lockout so we should be way up there on the seniority list.

Did anyone ever get their Flames giftcard from the COVID season? We were supposed to get a GC for a % of our funds that stayed with the Flames during the shutdown and I never heard anything about it. I just realized I never got that...

I chose the option where the actual amount increased by a percent as opposed to the gift card. I don’t even remember the gift card option tbh, though

We got our game pack during the 2004 playoffs so we could get tickets to Game 3 against Detroit! But that was two seats. We moved to four seats like 5 years ago and I think it screwed up our priority?

Give value back? Dream on!
This is nothing compared to what it's going to look like when the new building opens. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see many season tickets (and game day sales) being nearly double what they are today at that point.

I’m Aug 22nd @ 3, got season tickets around 2010 but this is my first year with game packs. As the clock ticks closer to Sept I’m already getting excited for the season!

Just got an email from the Flames stating that games are now ranked and based on a 3 tier system and will be priced accordingly...but it will have no affect on my overall price. So if the guys in my group paid a $100 per game and the game is in a lower tier they only sell those tickets for $20?

Ours is Monday at 2pm.
I can't remember if we signed up right after the 04' run or after the lockout ended?

My take from that email is basically they are raising the minimum price you could charge for lesser games. So it doesn't mean I will now be able to list a Tuesday game against Arizona for less, it means I won't be able to list my last minute Leafs tickets for a low amount.
Last year for greens I couldn't list on their resale site lower than $55 for any game. So that Arizona game will still be $55, but the Leafs game will now probably be $100.
Not a huge deal, but it has happened where at 4:30 we got better tickets from a friend's work, and we list our existing tickets for cheap. I am guessing with fewer renewals this season, they plan on doing more of "last minute tickets released."

I read it as games will be categorized so the total value is the same but some games will be worth less than others. I think it will mostly affect split-season people and minimum price of lower-demand tickets.
Quote:
This change will not impact the overall value of your Season Tickets. Your total Season Ticket Membership price will not change, but the individual game price will now vary based on category. In the past, we have calculated your individual game price by taking the total value of your membership divided by the number of games resulting in an average price for all games.
For many years the Calgary Flames have ranked their home games into 3-5 categories depending on several factors, including date and time, opponent, visiting players, etc. For example, a pre-season game does not have the same value as a Toronto or Edmonton regular season game. These same categories will now be applied to your Season Tickets and the individual game pricing will be set accordingly.
|
It should have been like this years ago. When COVID hit and the balance of the season was cancelled it was mostly premium games but the refund was based on average $ per game.

I think the main motivation here is they want to discount unsold seats without upsetting STH. If they do so occasionally it's probably not an issue, but if they test that promise of seasons being the best value too hard they'll end up with even more empty seats.

I agree with the first sentence, but I think it will affect season ticket holders who try to sell lower demand games on ticket exchange the most. Last year the minimum listing price was the same for every game, but was much to high to sell lower demand games. If I wanted to sell those tickets, I would list them here or Fansfirst for much less than my average cost.
CSEC will try to frame it as helping out season tickets holders, but I suspect they also don’t want to miss out on their cut of the markup, which is around 30%
I do not know how much of the markup they receive, but if Ticketmaster keeps it all, the Flames are doing something wrong.
Edit: At least for my seats, I think the orange, greens and blacks seemed to sell well.
