Geez, Noah Gregor is still out there. He would be a good get-pretty good two-way player with a lot of physicality, and a touch of offence. Alberta boy too.
Ruzicka's problem is not his offensive ability, it's the wide ebbs and flows in his GAF meter that has plagued him since junior. He started getting too complacent last year after a hot start, and that's why he was sat. He's not a defensive stalwart, nor does he use his considerable size much. I like him, but he has to stay consistent in his effort.

Yeah, hopefully he gets the fact that at 90-100% he's good enough to be a solid NHL'er, anything under that he's a waiver fodder

Just saw a report that Coyotes prospect, 2018 3rd-round pick RW Jan Jenik, is looking to be traded in order to continue his career in North America. He's 6'1", and has fairly good AHL stats the last few years, but has only been given 17 games with the big club the last 3 seasons. The Coyotes gave him a QO this summer, but he remains unsigned. He seems to be quite chippy, as his PIM are high.
I figure Arizona owes us a few favors for getting Valimaki from us for free.

This x1000
If Ruzicka could ever find true consistency to his game he could turn into a top 6 player but his effort fluctuates far too much for the time being.

I still think Puljujarvi is decent risk/reward. Plus he's LTIR until December isn't he?
Decent risk/no reward. He's not an NHL player right now. Best thing that can happen is that he plays in Europe for a few seasons where he gets a lot of ice time and maybe matures enough where he can give the NHL another shot.

I'll echo the no thanks to Puljujarvi. If he couldn't somewhat figure it out in Carolina, it's not going to change here. He needs to recuperate and find his game again in Europe. I've no doubt he can be a star in one of those leagues, but if he wants to earn more NHL money in the future he needs to prove himself. Another classic case of Edmonton pushing their prospects to develop quicker than they should.
Puljujarvi in a developmental league/Europe for more seasoning would have done wonders. The Oilers are about to break Holloway too when they've got no choice but to slot him in their lineup for cap purposes.
This is why the hanifin rumours to buffalo don’t make sense to me. Didn’t they grab a bunch of d men at start of free agency?
Yeah, we shored up our top six but Bryson is terrible and Stillman is a #7 D at best. One injury and those guys draw back in as regulars, which isn't preferable.
