And its such an easy, simple, yet very personally meaningful thing to do. We all have to share a bunch of lame holidays that we just bitch about anyway. But I think birthdays are different. Even in the grand scheme of the entirety of the universe, within that tiny blip of a blip of a blip of us being here there is the fact that each of us actually do have a unique birthday. A moment as unique as anything else in existence. And it is entirely unique to ourselves and the sum of our lives to that point, something profound that can't even be adequately described to someone else, let alone shared. Paradoxically, while nobody can know truly what you're talking about, or even what you mean, they know exactly why you mean it.

That is worth a mo-fuggin party, if you ask me.

Imagine the thought of taking one day for yourself out of every 365…

He wanted to know if the company gave him the day off above and beyond his usual allotment of days off (vacation/sick) days.

He thought he should be gifted a day

Heard it's for a wedding too, don't bring your toddler on a frickin long distance destination wedding ya nerds, especially if you know he's brutal with flying. The parents look like such confrontational yokels too.
Probably because they have places they want/need to go to and flying is the easiest way to get there.

I dunno, crying kids are annoying but I don’t consider it a particularly painful experience. It’s a plane, we’re all just trying to get where we’re going, none of us are any more important or have any more right to be there than anyone else, really. I always assume parents of screaming children are having a harder time than the people who have to listen to screaming children for a little bit.

You should buy them a drink.

I got this part.

That's not fair. You don't know this. At face value, this vs planning his days off, what is really more likely? Or lets say its 50/50; why pick the negative when both lead to a zero-sum outcome anyway?

Obviously an in the moment rant that has thankfully passed me by, but I've flown with kids crying before and this was a whole other level. That kid had major pipes and was a big lug, think he just has a very large, loud personality in general. It was something else dude...

And the good part was everything was complimentary, so they can get all the drinks they want. But I liked when mom handed the kid to grandma and she wasn't having any of it haha.

You should have bought the seats in front of me, not behind.

Yeah we get it. It’s done at places. Maybe he worked at one previously.

Oh, absolutely, let me clarify: I don't lean forward. My default seating position is seated upright with my arms crossed. By my comment I meant that I'm typically watching the game intently and don't partake in the "fun" such as "the wave", nor even to just get up out of my seat and share celebratory high-fives when Flames goals are scored like people often do with other fans around them.

E.g. Flames goal scored to go up 3-1 with 15 minutes left in the third? I'm usually that guy in your section still sitting stonefaced; that's plenty of time left for the Flames to blow a two-goal lead... I'll cheer when the clock runs out.

That said I shot out of my seat faster than anyone else in my section when Gaudreau scored in OT in game 7 against the Stars. That goal was worth celebrating.

I absolutely know this, I was his manager.

He flat out told me that he thought this should be the case, and was a bit put out that it wasn’t.

IDK man that sounds interesting and all but I know that when it comes to this person’s motivations and who knows them best, I’m always going “random internet stranger” over “co-worker.”

Wonder who brings their screaming kids onto the flight.

Don’t worry I will buy you a drink.

I fly with at least 1 deflated ballon in my pocket since reading this story about Luke Perry.

Quote:
There Hanks was, returning from Mexico, when suddenly two little kids started a full-on child brawl mid-flight. Their parents were helpless to stop them. As Hanks explained in an Instagram post Monday, “Out of no where, a man comes from first class.”

https://www.vulture.com/2019/03/coli...uke-perry.html

“Hat, beard, sunglasses, blowing up a balloon,” the actor recalled. “He ties it off, hands it off like he’s holding out a sword to a king. Kneeling, Head down, arms up. Kids calm down in milliseconds. Plane damn near bursts into applause. 15 minutes longer and it probably would have started WWIII, but we landed before that could happen.

I don’t have kids, I’m just a better person than you.

It sucks for people beside you too. I kept my season seats in the corner, because when people lean forward it doesn't affect my view. I sat in 211 one game and the two guys to my right leaned forward the entire game. Any time the puck was across the blue line on my right I had to either watch the scoreboard or lean forward and block the people to my left. It just takes one fan to do it and a domino effect is created.

I wish the saddledome had a standing section. We bought back row season tickets to Cavalry FC so no one could get mad about us standing all game.

Longer than expected construction at my home. We are upgrading our exteriors. Started a few weeks ago. We adjusted fairly well so it isn't terrible except that I work from a home office, kids are home, jumpy pets. Nobody is happy with me right now lol.

Of course when the contractors first arrived, my wife and I were super friendly. We'd bring them coffee in the morning or cold drinks in the sweltering afternoon. Now we barely give each other a nod of the head when we walk by. Hopefully they finish in the next week.
