Mixed thoughts on this. It looks like very nice but I'm not sure I'm sold on the concept of a links style course in a mountain setting. Or at least that's how the course looks to me.

Might be a potato-potahto thing depending on what one considers "linksy" but I'd say it's a lot of Stanley Thompson inspiration in it. Whitman has used the slopes and elevation changes off a mountain with Sagebrush successfully before (not treelined, but a strategic layout as well).

14? It's 200 yards from the blacks. Which I don't ever play. Fortunately that hold has huge backing so you can go way long and everything feeds back to the green. It's actually rated 18 on the course. The par 3s on that course are 15, 16, 17 and 18th hardest according to them. Though I think not.

This morning was an insane front 9... I hit a 7 iron out of a fairway bunker 170 yards to 6 feet, hit a 30 yard full swing flop shot with my 56 degree that rolled to about 6 inches (shot of the year for me), crushed a drive on a short part 4 to fade around a water hazard to chip-in range and nearly dropped it, made a couple of long sweeping putts and basically played out of my mind and above my head, my best 9 hole score of the year even with a double on the first hole because they moved us to an earlier tee time and I didn't have any warm up...

Then on 10 I promptly forgot which end of the club I was supposed to hold and couldn't figure it out for the rest of the round.

Shot 82 at Mt. Lorette yesterday.

The carts being allowed in the course is a game changer. Played in 4 hours 5 minutes yesterday.

Has anyone tried the Cleveland Halo or the Cobra T-Rail irons (which are more like hybrid-irons)? They seem nice in the store facilities but I haven't been able to use them in combat.

Anyone tried a L.A.B putter?
Glover has been playing unbelievable since switching to one & 4 of the top 7 at Wyndham were using them.
I'm sure sales are going bonkers for them right now.

Pretty interesting concept and seems to be catching on with the pros.

I golfed with a guy who explained it to me (his arrives on Thursday, lol). It makes sense to me, but I got a new putter this spring and that's it for me.

Like I say, it totally makes sense though. Basically the putter is perfectly balanced and will always be square to the hole. If ypu can take it back and forward perfectly straight, you're golden.

If anyone is headed up to northern Alberta before the end of the golf season I have a certificate for a round with cart for two golfers at the Westlock Golf Club that I am looking to get rid of. I won it last year at a golf tournament and thought that I might go up this summer because my significant other's family lives about an hour from there but I was lucky and didn't get dragged up there this summer.

Let me know if you want it and we can make arrangements.

My son was playing in a high school tournament with some top schools in the area today. He has a buddy on another school who is going into 11th grade and is one of the top juniors in the state, and talking to lots of D1 schools. He has some serious putting yips right now. He 5 putted?!?! on a short par 3 today but still shot one over for the round. He's pretty much tried every putting grip and putter out there.... I guess that is next for him!!

The part I'm curious about is why all other manufacturers go toe hang or face balanced etc.
They aren't stupid and designed putters those ways for a reason; so I'd like to see a counter argument to the balancing LAB has designed.

I've got my eyes open for a used one. If they are as good as advertised on the short putts, my handicap will drop by half.

I'm better from 12-18 feet than I am from 3-9 in terms of make percentage.

That’s a crazy stat if true, especially the 3-4 footers.

Guy I golf with regularly just put one in his bag. Has always been a streaky putter but has been rock solid with his L.A.B. (broomstick version).

It was good enough to get me to look into it (although I too have spent my putter money for the year - on a Scotty Cameron, which now lives in my trunk haha!).

In my research I came across this which gives some of the back ground and the theory behind it:

Water Valley is doing a scramble that cost $6500 and winner gets $40k.

But that's always the case

I understand the theory but the video demo is goofy because you are always holding your putter anyway - it's not handing on a swivel. So it's still going to be subject to arm motion, grip and bobble.

In my putting, squareness at the strike isn't what I'm ever worried about. Keeping the face straight is not that hard a task. It's my line and weight. Especially weight because it's the most variable inluence on the putt from game to game.
