I've seen a lot of suggestions that Moreno would never sanction a trade even if the GM wanted to. Speculation that he didn't want to be known as the owner who traded "the best player ever". Well hey he gets to be the owner who lost the "best player ever" and only got a comp draft pick back, so I guess that's better? But being an emotionally driven owner is why they are such a tire fire to begin with.
I mean, I don't blame him when you consider how infamous Harry Frazee is. It's literally the only thing people remember him for, selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees.
If Ohtani leaves, I don't think it'll be on the owner. I'd bet that the Angels offer more than whatever he ends up taking. He's worth so much money to them both on and off the field. I went to a game there earlier this year and noticed that something like 80% of their sponsors are Japanese companies.
You can't really blame the owner if he just takes less money to go somewhere else. Also, how much do we think this deal will be? My guess is 10 years, $500 million.

Yeah. I went to a game there this year as well. The woman sitting next to me has had seasons the last couple of years, and was wearing a Hawaiian shirt where Ohtani's face was pre-printed into the pattern. She talked about him the whole game. (In fairness he was pitching as well)
They're 100% losing STH if they don't sign him. Maybe not $60MM/year worth but it'd be something. And they'll need another starting pitcher and a DH if he leaves so that will cost something.
Wander Franco is being accused of a being a pedophile (apparently has a 14 yr old gf) and today was Wander Franco hat day for fans 14 & under. That's all I'm going to say.
There's no right age, but even then that's such a ridiculously young age that you'd have to think that's not within reason and he'd know the consequences. I don't know any facts at all but I'd be shocked if it's real - that's crazy.

I think "this is legal" is a good place to put the cutoff at minimum...
The Following User Says Thank You to bizaro86 For This Useful Post:
I'm not here to defend Franco. I find it odd how many prospects including Eury Perez would be following a 14 year old on Instagram.
She also posts photos of her driving while drinking vodka. Something doesn't add up.
In DR they have drive through drinking stations where you can order a drink to go or sit in your car and drink in that same parking lot. You’re not technically allowed to drink and drive but there’s also not anyone stopping you - you better not be caught or get in an accident is kinda the messaging. I don’t know how common it is for minors to drink but I’d be inclined to say there it’s not as taboo as here for someone to drink on a special occasion for instance. I have no idea about her story but how does a grown man get mixed up with a kid? It’s utterly bizarre.

Ya a lot of things aren't adding up but the Attoryney General also confirmed that a seperate lawsuit against Wander was filed last month for a 17 year old.
Hopefully investigations get to the bottom of this but hopefully this isn't a case of where there is smoke there is fire.

Sounds like smoke led to fire. Wander is likely done and good riddance if true.
Wow this might be the most promising career thrown away yet. He likely had at least 600 million in future earnings to be had.
They had already signed him long term to 180 million until he's 33. I'm guessing they get out of that contract, so yeah that is a lot of money to throw away.
