I have no use for the WEF, I think its ideas with ESG are just makeup on a pig, but I also think they are just a forum and anything trying to paint them as a big bad cabal are either stupid, ignorant or deceitful.

90% of it from my experience is actually way below that. It's like a think tank that hosts meetings where it tries to cajole bureaucrats into advancing their think tank policies. The other 10% are the big public forum gatherings and schmoozing with politicians.

Source: I recently attended a WEF meeting in Washington DC. There were no politicians present. There were reps from the US DOE who told us a lot about IRA, which was very helpful, then the WEF crew tried to convince us to sign up for an initiative. The initiatives are just you promising you're going to do something with 0 consequences for not doing it.

It's like a marketing piece. As someone earlier pointed out their ESG criteria are largely lipstick on a pig style. BUT we can all collectively say that we're working on together

Its essentially a Lobbying group that poses as the World's 'Think Tank.'

They're an unelected, pretentious and self-aggrandized lobbying group and I'm unaware of how much influence they actually have.

But aside from that I dont know how shadowy and sinister they actually are, and I generally dont care. I just dont think about them that much.

We should get the WEF and the WE guys to fight it out in the ring. Fight out 'what' you may ask? I dont know. Ownership of the 'F?'

I won't just drop an article without context or explanation. It's not my fault the point is indefensible, and they keep trying to make it. Or that their source is a racist bigot who, every day they share stuff, makes the world a worse place.

I guess my point is, if they don't want people to view them as giant selfish horrible people who can't read the back of a cereal box, maybe don't present themselves as such. But some people seem fine with that, so why should I worry about calling a spade a spade, if they dress up in a spade costume?
