I guess I should go see Oppenheimer in 70mm as that's probably an older crowd and hopefully wouldn't suffer from the same problem, but it was just such a bad experience and leaves such a sour taste in your mouth.

Oh, for ####'s sakes. Why do people have to behave like animals? Have some god damned shame. How are theatres not dealing with this, given that it can't possibly be a good experience for the 90% of the people in there who aren't being total a-holes and only incentivizes those people not to go? I guess the other alternative is to just hold "old people only" showings, i.e. over 30.

I know for a fact I'm going to end up going to see Dune part II in IMAX. Am I going to have to get up beforehand and yell at everyone that they'd better stay quiet or I'm going to personally give each of them the Gom Jabbar?

I genuinely lol'd at that sentence. Glorious HD! The finest tech of the 2000's!

Still enjoy going to the movies but it has to be done properly. No opening weekend/week, especially for a big movie. Watching Deadpool opening weekend that time cemented that rule, as the socially awkward autistics were out in force. Literllay dancing during the credits.

Also, I like the fact that I can't pause the thing. It helps me focus, leave my phone off, and I actually finish a movie in an hour and a half, not over five nights as I get distracted by random stuff.

All in glorious HD!

Movie theatres, for their survival, may wanna consider putting an usher in each theatre and very strictly enforcing no talking / no cell phone. Like soup nazi level.

First time phone light shows? You’re ejected, goodbye. You talking? You have to leave, no warnings. Refuse to? Security dispatched and lifetime ban from theatre.

For #### sakes if you’re going to have a fire in your backyard, at least do it right and make sure it’s burning hot and clean. Half our neighbourhood smoked out, my house stinks and I gotta sleep with the windows closed because asshat can’t not burn green ####.

Maybe they like the smell of evergreen needles burning and dislike you....

81MC has had like 500 neighbourhood gear grinders. I can live with a lot of things and try not to get too upset, it helps feel better when living in a city. (not that you can't still have the odd thing here or there, but you gotta understand that you can't just be mad at everything all the time when living amongst 1.5 million people).

I like to think of him as an ornery 'Mr. Wilson.'

Press ALT then select the History menu that shows up. Find "recently closed windows" and you can reopen them if it hasn't been too long.

I mean, that just sounds like a guy wanting a day off and trying to find a reason to justify it. I doubt he's off "celebrating".

When someone sends me a photo, and it’s a ‘Live’ iPhone photo… I am so sick of seeing a two second clip of me, blinking and then smiling

I keep reading this as "people getting over 25 balloons for their birthday" and I'm like, "That's a #### ton of balloons".

Not great at reading comprehension, but I liked it this way than the other way.

Most people over 25 getting a balloon is because they have friends and families that enjoy humiliating them. Like the friends and families that love the restaurant singing and embarrassing them in front of the whole restaurant.

Birthday person hates it. Restaurant hates it. The only person enjoying this is the person smiling like an arsonist at a fire. ~Brad Upton, paraphrased.

NGL, you described this like a photo in the Harry Potter universe. I thought it sounded kinda cool.
